Missoula Animal Control is the county's animal control facility. Most of the strays and abandonned animals will become available for adoption if unclaimed by their owners. MAC also accepts owner surrendered animals for a fee.

The Humane Society of Western Montana is a private, non-profit facility which accepts owner surrendered, abandoned, and stray animals.

Arlee Rehabilitation Center (ARC) is a nonprofit that rescues dogs on the Flathead Reservation. Most of our dogs are gentle, mellow, loving mutts that give out as much healing as they themselves need. We serve through a foster network.

Animeals is a no kill adoption center and animal food bank. We supply food to shelters, rescues, people that are homebound, disabled and people that feed feral cat colonies.

Basset Rescue of Montana in Frenchtown is a private, non-profit animal shelter for Bassets and an occasional German Shepherd Dog if shelter room is available.
