2/5/2010   [10-D044]   Cheweenie
Chihuahua X,  tan,  Female,  Older Adult   Collar: yes
STRAY: Gharrett street
Cheweenie is one of several perfectly wonderful strays that have found their way to the Humane Society this past week. This sweetheart even had a collar on! Of course we hope Cheweenie's owners find her, but you can guess how easy it'll be to find her a new family. Call us at 549-HSWM for more information.
2/4/2010   [10-D039]   Harvey
German Shepherd X,  black/tan,  Male neutered,  Older Adult
STRAY: Beckwith and Blaine
I'm literally shocked that no one has come forward to claim this fabulous dog! Harvey was found several days ago running smack dab through the middle of town, collarless! He is certainly a nice guy, so what's the deal?? If no one claims Harvey soon, we'll have no problem finding him a new home! Canine-Ality-(green) I'm a go getter!
[Picture] 2/3/2010   [10-D037]   Becca
Lab,  black,  Female,  Young Adult   Collar: yes
STRAY: Higgins and Beckwith
Becca was found, appearing more than a bit confused, at the new round-about on Higgins. Many of you can probably relate! She had a collar but no tags. She immediately showed off her tricks. She can sit and shake! Someone must be missing their near perfect young lab, but they better come quick. People are already asking to adopt this fabulous girl!
[Picture] 2/2/2010   [10-D036]   Captain
Lab X,  black,  Male Intact,  1 Yr
STRAY: St.. Regis
A little over a week ago Captain was found wondering around St. Regis, appearing more than a bit disoriented. He has some hair loss around his right eye, but is otherwise in good health and spirits. Captain seems to like other dogs and is a well mannered youngster. If his owner does not claim him before next week then he will be made available for adoption into a new loving home, maybe even during our 4th Annual Adopt-A-Thon Feb. 12th and 13th.
[Picture] 1/29/2010   [10-D034]   Rosalita
Terrier X,  tan,  Female spayed,  2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: We don't have a clear history on Rosalita, only that her owner couldn't continue caring for her. One thing's for sure though, she is adorable, from her wiry coat down to the tips of her ears! She even howls like a big dog! Rosalita gets along great with other dogs and kitties too!
[Picture] 1/16/2010   [10-D023]   Curly Fry
Poodle/Shih Tzu X,  black,  Male neutered,  11 Mo
OWNER TURN IN: Curly Fry is as cute as his name suggests, just picture a curly coated Poodle with an adorable squished nose! He gets along great with other dogs, cats, and kids, and he's even crate trained! Sounds about perfect right? Update: Curly Fry is out for a test drive!
[Picture] 1/15/2010   [10-D022]   Rosie
Fox Terrier,  white with black/tan,  Female spayed,  1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Rosie is one of the friendliest little ones we've had come through our doors lately. She gets along with everyone, including a whole crew of dogs she plays with outside! She is crate trained and has mastered all of her basic commands.
[Picture] 1/13/2010   [10-D020]   Lola
Jack Russell Terrier,  white with black,  Female spayed,  9 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: We did our best to find Lola the perfect home, but sometimes things just don't work out. Unfortunately she is back at the shelter. We plan to make sure her next home is her last! She is very sweet, and affectionate, but can sometimes bully the other dogs in the home. Although she loves to play with them, we think it might be best for her to be the only resident female, which isn't so unusual. She is a very special little lady, and she deserves the best. Please call us at 549-HSWM for more information. Update: Out on a test drive.
[Picture] 1/9/2010   [10-D011]   Beau
Shepherd/Rottie X,  Brown/Tan with Black,  Male neutered,  Puppy
OWNER TURN IN: Hit and injured by a car, then abandoned at the vet, Beau still hasn't lost his joy at living and love for people after an awful start. We see a little residual nerve damage to his front paw, but he really WANTS to be a playful puppy. Talk to one of our caring animal specialists about Beau, who deserves so much more than what his first six months brought him.
[Picture] 1/9/2010   [10-D013]   Molly
Lab/Shar-Pei X,  black,  Female spayed,  2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Molly was a bit scared when she first arrived at the shelter, but with the help of a few tasty treats, we were able to win her over rather quickly. She certerainly has that adorable face going for her. It melts your heart to look down at that big nose in front of those sad brown eyes! In the right home we think Molly will really flourish.
1/6/2010   [10-D005]   B.B.
Shih-Tzu X,  tan,  Male neutered,  10 Mo
OWNER TURN IN: Rumor has it B.B. is a Shih-Tzu/Rottweiler cross! We aren't sure if we believe it, but you never know?? What ever the mix, he came out ridiculously adorable. B.B. gets along swell with other dogs, and loves to play. All he needs is active, adults only home filled with fun! Meet him at our 4th annual Adopt-A-Thon, this Friday and Saturday! Canine-Ality-(green) I'm a free spirit!
[Picture] 1/2/2010   [09-D623]   Maggie
Lab,  yellow,  Female spayed,  1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Maggie is a beautiful young lab looking for a dedicated person who has the time to devote to her training and exercise needs. Maggie is a loveable energetic dog who would like to go to an adult-only home with someone who can tend to her specific requirements. Please call 549-HSWM for more information or stop by the shelter; we would be glad to tell you more about this nice girl. Update: out on a test drive.
[Picture] 12/31/2009   [09-D628]   Louie
Border Collie X,  red/white,  Male neutered,  2 Yr   Collar: yes
STRAY: Ronan
Louie was found several weeks ago in the Ronan area. Although he was a bit timid at first, he was wearing a collar and appears well cared for. He is currently having a blast playing with all the dogs here, but we would love to find his family. Otherwise he's more than willing to become someone's new best friend, especially if there are other dogs involved! Update: Out on a test drive.
[Picture] 12/19/2009   [09-D616]   Raisin
Heeler/Bulldog X,  red with white,  Female spayed,  7 Mo
OWNER TURN IN: Raisin is a young, active girl whose owner recognized the sad fact that she worked too many jobs to care for her dog. It was with a mixture of great love and sadness that she brought us Raisin to find her a home where she could blossom with the right kind of attention. She already knows some commands and is primed to learn more with a consistent, caring human to guide her. Her first emotions here at the shelter were concern, fear, shyness, and then confusion. Now that she's settled into the routine we can see something else in her eyes. Hope. Hope that the next human that passes by will see what a wonderful young girl she is and give her the time and attention that she craves. Canine-Ality-(green) I'm a go-getter!
12/17/2009   [09-D611]   Teddy
German Shepherd,  black/tan,  Male neutered,  1 1/2 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Teddy just came by the shelter for a visit, and WOW, what a difference! He has been spending some time in a foster home with a great trainer. She is teaching him how to focus his energies, and respect boundaries. He's a very smart, very sweet, and very, very handsome fellow, but without the right outlets he can be a bit much. He does have some placement restrictions, but if Teddy sounds like something you can tackle, call us at 549-HSWM to arrange a meeting. Canine-Ality-(orange) I'm a busy bee!
[Picture] 12/16/2009   [09-D602]   Peggy Sue
Lab/Hound X,  black,  Female spayed,  3 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Sometimes things don't always work out like we hope. Peggy Sue's adopters not only decided they didn't want to keep her but instead of bringing her back to us they abandoned her with a friend, making it the second time she was left by her owners. She made it back to the shelter, but isn't happy about being here, and we don't blame her. We want to make sure Peggy Sue is never abandoned again, and never ends up back in a shelter.
[Picture] 12/11/2009   [09-D597]   Shiloh
Border Collie X,  black/white,  Female spayed,  8 Mo
OWNER TURN IN: Shiloh is an active, smart young dog who just wants someone who can keep her busy! She is sweet and outgoing, not to mention she is pretty cute too! With a basic training class and lots of exercise, Shiloh is going to grow up to be a fabulous dog! Update: Shiloh is out for a test drive!
[Picture] 11/28/2009   [09-D573]   Wrangler
Australian Cattle Dog X,  red merle,  Male neutered,  2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Wrangler is a handsome cattle dog who would love to find an owner who has some experience with this breed. He is crate trained, knows some basic behaviors like "sit" and "down," and is as active as you would expect a young herding breed to be! If you'd like some more information or you think Wrangler might fit in at your home, give us a call at 549-HSWM to speak to an adoption specialist. Canine-Ality-(green) I'm a go-getter!
[Picture] 10/7/2009   [09-D472]   Gala
Redbone Hound X,  white with red spots,  Female spayed,  4 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Gala and her brother Draco were brought to us because their family could no longer afford their care. They have spent their entire lives outside, mostly kenneled. I think it's time to show Gala and Draco what being a pet is all about! Things like how fun it is to get yummy treats for good behavior, and just how great belly rubbins feel! Update: Gala is out for a test drive with a family that has been looking for the right dog for awhile. Good luck Gala!
