9/1/2010 [10-0717] Silas
American Long Hair, grey, Male neutered, 7 Mo
OWNER TURN IN: If you're going to be named after a famous literary character, then Silas is a good choice. Our Silas is also good....good with kids, cats and DOGS! He's only here because his family had too many cats and figured Silas had a better chance of finding a new home. So, what do you think? Does Silas have a good chance of getting a home? Silas sure hopes so.
8/31/2010 [10-C416] Cora
DSH, buff tiger, Female, 4 months
STRAY: Ft. Missoula
Cora was found in the Fort Missoula area near the golf course a couple days ago. She is very sweet, and immediately approached her finders for help out of the rain. Hopefully her family will come forward for her, but if not, she will be available for adoption next week.
8/31/2010 [10-C410] Dolce
DSH, calico, Female spayed, 4 months
OWNER TURN IN: Dulce was adopted from us a couple weeks ago, and now her adopters are moving and don't want to take her. Usually we hope for a bit more of a committment from our adopters, but we think Dolce will have better luck the second time around. She is a very well adjusted, friendly, young lady who loves to play! She lived with a small dog, and loves all people too!
8/25/2010 [10-C408] Yahtzee
DMH, black/white, Female spayed, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Yahtzee was found wandering around Lolo trying to take care of her cute little kitten, while no one was taking care of her! Luckily her and her kitten are much safer now, and always have a nice meal and a warm bed. All she needs now is a home of her own--she isn't picky, just as long as she has a lap to sit in from time to time! Feline-Ality-(orange) I'm an executive!
8/25/2010 [10-C409] Tokyo
Siamese X, seal point, Female spayed, 4 months
OWNER TURN IN: Tokyo was owned, and to be honest, I'm not exactly sure why they gave her up. It sounds like maybe the resident cat didn't want a new kitten around. No offfense to Tokyo though, because she is absolutely the sweetest little thing. She is a little overwhelmed with shelter life, but she really feels at ease when she's snuggled up in your arms.
8/24/2010 [10-C406] Blackberry
DSH, black, Female, 12 weeks
STRAY: Edith St.
Little Blackberry was found as a stray a little over a week ago. Her finders kept her for a few days, but brought her to us when they were unable to track down her owners. She is a very sweet little girl, who has obviously been living in a home. She gets along with the other kittens in her play room too.
8/20/2010 [10-C404] Origami
DSH, black, Female, 3 Yr
STRAY: Trotting Horse Lane
Origami looks like she's led quite a life! The tips of both her ears, and most of her tail are missing, which by the way, just adds to her charm. Someone found her just off Blue Mountain road on Trotting Horse lane. She is very friendly and her finders had only seen her around for a day, so hopefully this funny looking lady has a family who loves her and is missing her. Call us at 549-HSWM for more information.
8/19/2010 [10-C402] Napoleon
DLH, grey/white, Male neutered, 9 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Exiled to our shelter by the landlord, this gentleman sports a cute, wrinkly ear and a personality as easygoing as can be. He dearly loves his pal Cleo (the Second), a sheltie dog (they sleep together), and kids (toddlers and younger). While an open door sometimes calls to him to seek the great outdoors (and a new empire?), Napoleon has ruled his realm largely from the great indoors. He enjoys being held, hunting, chasing a laser pointer and high places (like your shoulders). He savors catnip like a fine wine. Let Napoleon march into your heart and home.
8/19/2010 [10-C401] Cleo the 2nd
Maine Coon X, brown/black tiger, Female spayed, 6 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: In the prime of her life, Cleo the Second found herself in the shelter due to a landlord's decision. She is a prime example of all good things in her breeding. The Maine Coon is a native American longhaired cat and was recognized as a specific breed in Maine where they were held in high regard for their mousing talents. Through nature's own breeding program, the Maine Coon developed into a sturdy cat ideally suited to the harsh winters and varied seasons of the region. This works well in Montana as well. The Maine Coon is well known for its loving nature, kindly disposition and great intelligence. Maines are especially good with children and dogs and have always been a popular and sought after companion. This inside girl has lived with kids, cats (she loves her former housemate, Napoleon) and a dog. Come and meet Cleo the Second and see if she meets with YOUR approval.
8/7/2010 [10-C109] Koen
DSH, grey, Male neutered, Young Adult
STRAY:
'Allo. Because you may not speak French let me tell you about myself in my poor english. My name is Koen and I would love a 'ome. When I was just a baby kitten, I lived in the wild, without proper vet care or the right food (wine and cheese don't count, I'm told). I was a sick kitten that required me to live with a wonderful foster family for a while, but I'm starting to grow out of that and am raring to go. So 'ere's my posting, 'oping that you will see me and take me 'ome. I have learned to love and trust one family, and can do the same for you and yours. Jusque-là,(until then). Je vais attendre pour vous (I will wait for you).
8/6/2010 [10-C298] Diamond
DSH, tan/black tabby, Female, 12 weeks
OWNER TURN IN: Diamond and her litter were born into a feral colony. The caretakers of the colony immediately rescued the baby kittens and brought them inside so they could grow into happy, social, little pets. Now you would never know, they play and give lovins' like the rest!
8/6/2010 [10-C301] Mouse
DSH, white with one tabby spot, Female, 10 weeks
OWNER TURN IN: One look, and you'll see where Mouse got her name. She was, and has remained, the smallest of her group. She runs and plays, and has no trouble keeping up with her friends, but her petite frame makes her that much more adorable! Call us at 549-HSWM if you might want to be Mouse's new mom.
8/6/2010 [10-C302] DeBorgia
DSH, tan/black tabby, Female, 12 weeks
OWNER TURN IN: DeBorgia is the namesake of the feral colony she was born into. All the kittens were rescued as tiny, barely weened little guys, so that they could be hand raised and socialized. Now they are happy, healthy youngsters, ready for adoption into your home! bring your family down to pick out your newest companion.
8/3/2010 [10-C387] Jasper
DSH, black, Male neutered, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: At first glance you might think Jasper is just another ordinary black cat. But he is a sweet, friendly guy who likes people, cats, and dogs, and just finds himself in need of a new home. So come on in and meet him; we know whoever takes him home will soon discover he is anything but ordinary!
7/31/2010 [10-C380] Clyde
DLH, grey/white, Male neutered, 5 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Clyde and his sister Bonnie(of course) make the cutest pair! Bonnie is black and white long haired, and Clyde has an identical coat, only grey and white! Oh and Clyde is twice the size! We would love to find these guys a loving new home together. They lived with dogs and seem to like their company.
7/31/2010 [10-C379] Bonnie
DLH, black/white, Female spayed, 5 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Bonnie and Clyde were adopted from us five years ago as kittens! Now their owners feel they don't have time for them anymore. They don't understand all the sudden changes, but who could blame them. Both cats lived with a nice lab and got along with him fine. Of course we would love to keep these two together, espcially since they make such a cute pair.
7/22/2010 [10-C358] Lindsey
DSH, white with brown/gray tiger stripes, Female, 3 Yr
STRAY: Bonner
Found before she could get into trouble along a busy MT HWY 200, Lindsey and we are hoping for a quick return home. She seems content in the confines of her cage, and appears to like our food, bedding and attention. While we'd really like to see her back home, we'll also settle for a new home with a new family. Why not take a look and discover her personality for yourself?
7/20/2010 [10-C355] Buttons
DSH, calico, Female spayed, 9 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Many cats are quite shy when they first come to the shelter. The trauma of trading the relative quiet and safety of their home to the bustle and smells of the shelter are overwhelming at first. We think that's why Buttons is showing her cautious side. We do know she's lived with dogs, other cats and teenagers. At home, this calico beauty was really only scared of the vacuum. If you think you have made a connection with any of our adoptable animals, you can try them out in your home to make sure the match is right. Why not try out Buttons?
7/9/2010 [10-C314] Amy
DSH, gray/white, Female spayed, 9 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Amy is one cute cat! She's a friendly, outgoing girl who loves to be brushed and petted! Come on in and meet her--she loves visitors! Feline-Ality-(orange) I'm a sidekick!
7/7/2010 [10-C192] Molly
DSH, brown/black tiger with white, Female spayed, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Molly is a sweet, sensitive girl who is a bit shy until you really get to know her. She was originally found as a stray, so who knows what her life has been like up until she came here. She seems to really like people who will quietly wait for her to approach them, and then she will gladly be petted. Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a private investigator!
7/2/2010 [10-C338] Mulligan
DSH, black/white, Male neutered, Adult
STRAY: North Avenue
This handsome guy has been seen for the last few months wandering around an apartment building. We are glad someone finally took the time to bring him here--he's a very friendly cat and we are looking forward to finding him a good, permanent home. Feline-Ality-(orange) I'm a sidekick!
6/25/2010 [10-C304] Maxine
Siamese X, seal point, Female spayed, 2 Yr
STRAY:
Maxine and Frederica are a couple of really sweet cats whose owners had to move away without them. They're a little nervous being here at the shelter, but who could blame them? At least they have each other, and they are warming up to the staff more and more each day. Maxine likes to be brushed, sit in laps to be petted, and her favorite hangout is on the windowsill! Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a private investigator!
6/25/2010 [10-C282] April
DSH, black/gray tiger with white, Female spayed, Older Adult
OWNER TURN IN: It is a shame to see older kitties having to spend time at a shelter--we would love for April to get into a nice comfortable home where someone will care for her, and maybe spoil her just a little. She deserves it! Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a private investigator!
6/25/2010 [10-C303] Frederica
DMH, black with white, Female spayed, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Hi, my name is Frederica, but you can call me Freddy! My sister Maxine and I ended up here at the shelter when our owner moved to a place that doesn't allow pets. I'm a little shy at first, but I am really sweet once I get to know you. I like to be brushed and would love a lap to sit in from time to time. Please come in and visit me soon! Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a private investigator!
6/25/2010 [10-C281] Sophie
DLH, gray, Female spayed, Older Adult
OWNER TURN IN: Sophie and her friend April were brought to the shelter when their elderly owner couldn't take care of tem anymore. They are both really sweet, mellow cats who love to be brushed and sit in your lap. Feline-Ality-(green) I'm the leader of the band!
6/24/2010 [10-C323] Abby
DMH, torti tiger, Female spayed, 13 Yr
STRAY: Cooper St.
Abby's story breaks all of our hearts. Someone her age should never have to endure such hard times. She was literally abandoned all alone in the apartment by her owners. It took someone awhile to find her, and by then she had lost a bunch of weight. Of course we got her to a vet immediately and the first thing they did was clean her teeth. Abby hasn't let her bad luck influence her feeling towards humans though. In fact, she prefers to be in your arms or on your shoulder for as long as you'll allow her to stay. She has lots of stories to tell too, but just needs someone willing to listen. Seniors, just a reminder, Abby's adoption fee is waived for anyone 60 and over! Feline-Ality-(orange) I'm a personal assistant!
6/22/2010 [10-A110] Smudge
Rabbit, black, Female spayed, Young Adult Collar: red
STRAY: Stevensville
Someone thought enough of this bunny to put a collar on it. So we're still wondering why that caring owner hasn't come to find this young bunny. Smudge is just one of the younger rabbits we have to offer to people looking for a companion animal. Our staff can provide more information on any of our available animals.
6/19/2010 [10-C311] Bumble
DSH, black with white tuxedo, Female spayed, 3 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Bumble and her sister Lunar were brought in because there were just too many cats for their family to take proper care of them all. Bumble is a super cute playful little thing that acts more like a kitten than an adult. She loves toys! Even in the small space of her cage she makes the best of what she has, playing and playing for hours with strings, balls, and anything in between! She lived with five other cats and gets along well with her species, especially her sister Lunar! Feline-Ality-(orange) I'm a sidekick!
6/15/2010 [10-C293] Bubba
DSH, black/gray tiger, Male neutered, 8 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: In the prime of his life, Bubba lost his home. Used to living with other cats, kids and even some dogs, Bubba enjoys the freedom of the great outdoors, yet he knows how to use the inside litterbox. He enjoys his own company but will gladly come when the dinner bell rings. If you're looking for a pal who isn't too clingy or needy, then this fellow might be the one for you. Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a private investigator!
6/15/2010 [10-C291] Mercedes
DSH, black/white, Female spayed, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Cat allergies? It wasn't me, it was the other house cat that caused those allergies. But we both caught the blame and suffered the same fate...life in a cage in the shelter. I'm the perfect one, you know. I'd like another family who will keep me, and will play, lap sit, befriend the kids and even perhaps the dog. Just give me a chance to prove to you how nice I am. Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a private investigator!
6/13/2010 [10-C289] Annie
DMH, gray, Female spayed, Young Adult Collar: red
STRAY:
Annie is a cute little kitty we found on our doorstep this weekend. Unfortunately we have no information about who she is or why she is here, so we're just trying to figure it out as we go. So far we know she is a sweet, active young girl and we would love to find her a home where someone will really appreciate her.
6/12/2010 [10-C288] Norma Jean
DSH, white w/brown spots, Female spayed, 3 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Poor Norma Jean is another cat who was adopted and returned when her owners decided to move. She is a very special kitty and we are assuring her she will find the perfect home this time around. Although she requires to be the only feline friend in your home, she is very sweet and enjoys hanging out on your lap or gazing out the window. Feline-Ality-(orange) I'm a sidekick!
6/11/2010 [10-C284] Eureka
DSH, black/white, Female spayed, 5 yrs.
STRAY: West Alder
Eureka took up residence in the basement of an apartment building and happened to befriend one of our staff members who lives there. She of course brought her here to find a much more suitable home and someone to love her. She's a cute little kitty who will make a fine feline friend! Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a private investigator!
6/9/2010 [10-C268] Mystery
DSH, torti-tiger, Female spayed, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: New people and situations can be frightening for any cat and Mystery is no exception. She has lived with other cats but hasn't been around children. Shy cats suffer from overlook. That means they're passed by more often by potential adopters looking for fun and playfulness. But they can be great companions, given time to adjust. Cats are naturally nocturnal animals. If a cat rarely comes out during the day, don't assume she's not prowling around the house at night. Since cats can have very quiet footfalls when they want to, you may not hear her -- and you won't see her because you're asleep. By the way, just because you find her in the same hiding place in the morning that you left her in the night before also doesn't mean she spent the whole night there! To try to help a shy cat feel more secure, try waiting until nightfall. Turn off all the lights and pull the shades. Then, wait and see if your scaredy-cat is more willing to venture out. Our staff has more ideas to help your shy cat adjust. Just ask...and adopt! Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a private investigator!
6/9/2010 [10-C269] Twinkle
DSH, orange, Female spayed, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Twinkle waited a long time at our shelter for a home, and we thought she had it. Then we found she just couldn't coexist with the dog, so she's back at the shelter. Just because that match didn't work out doesn't mean we'll give up, tho. Twinkle is relaxed around other cats, used to living amidst the bustle of the shelter and is very easygoing and playful. So roll out a few toys, fill up the cat bowl and make a cozy perch for this great cat, who has so much to offer a dog-less family. Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a private investigator!
6/5/2010 [10-C261] Quill
DSH, tiger with white, Female spayed, 5 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: The good life. That's what Quill and her cat friend lost when their human family moved. This lady is polydactyl, meaning she has extra toes; just one of her cute attributes. Quill is shy, but our volunteers have already noticed that she does relax when she's brushed, and she even talks a bit. So we think she'll come out of her shell, with a patient owner who will provide her a sense of security and help her feel more comfortable around new people and new situations. Don't overlook shy cats in your quest for a new pet. They might just surprise you. Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a private investigator!
6/5/2010 [10-C262] Maggie
DSH, tabby, Female spayed, 5 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Maggie and her best friend Quill lost their home due to a move. She's the more outgoing of the two, and helps give her friend Quill a sense of confidence. More than just the fabled feline aloofness, shy cats can be all but invisible, running and hiding even from their owners. At some time during the day, virtually every cat wants to be alone and will find a secluded place to crawl into. But shy ones and "scaredy-cats" may spend most of their time out of sight. A cat that spends most of her time under the bed isn't having a good time. If you have the room in your home and heart for a pair desperately needing a new start, consider taking home a shy cat (or two). You can save a life. Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a secret admirer!
6/5/2010 [10-C264] Izzy
DSH, black/brown tiger, Female spayed, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Izzy is one of yet another pair of hapless cats who lost their home due to a move. She seems comfortable around children and adults and has lived in peace with a like-minded dog. Strangers are a little scary, but Izzy could be the perfect all-around addition to your household. Why not consider taking home a pair, who will keep each other company and happy while you're away, and provide double the fun when you're home. Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a private investigator!
6/5/2010 [10-C263] Selby
DSH, black/brown tiger, Female spayed, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Selby is one fabulous cat! She enjoys sitting in people's laps, hanging out with other kitties, she gets along with dogs...she is just an easygoing feline. Her favorite activity? Playing fetch! She is sure to be tons of fun for the lucky person who chooses to take her home! Feline-Ality-(orange) I'm a personal assistant!
5/14/2010 [10-C223] Sissy
DSH, gray/black tiger, Female spayed, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Sissy and her friend Itty got kicked out of their apartment! Sissy seems to be the sweet quiet one. She loves people, catnip, and being brushed! Feline-Ality-(orange) I'm a sidekick!
5/14/2010 [10-C224] Dora
DSH, black; declawed, Female spayed, 3 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Dora and her friend Devin were brought to us when her owner moved and could no longer keep them. Dora is a little more outgoing than Devin, although they both seem to enjoy the company of people. Dora would make a great lap cat, loves to be brushed, and doesn't mind an occasional kitty treat! Feline-Ality-(orange) I'm a sidekick!
5/14/2010 [10-C225] Devin
DSH, black with white; declawed, Male neutered, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Devin has done a lot of moving around in his short life, and he is ready to settle down with someone in a more permanent location. He originally came here all the way from North Dakota, and now his owner is moving again, which is why he and his friend Dora ended up here. He's a nice cat who just needs a little consistency in his life! Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a private investigator!
5/14/2010 [10-C221] Pepper
DSH, black, Female spayed, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: The landlord said 'no' and thus another cat finds herself homeless and living in a shelter. Cats like Pepper need your help getting back on their feet. They want to be seen for the amazing pet they will be rather than the worried, frightened, cat you see in the cage. Rather than a loud meow, Pepper has an adorable quiet little squeak, and she loves to play with toys! Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a private investigator!
5/14/2010 [10-C220] Espresso
DSH, black, Female spayed, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: When Espresso first came to us, she was thin and suffering from a possible food allergy. While still a little timig, Espresso has blossomed into a friendly girl who seems to really like people and a tender brushing. Now on a consistent, healthy diet, Espresso has put on some weight and her health issues have resolved to the point where she can go to a new home. Our staff has cared for and observed Espresso for well over a month and can offer helpful suggestions to potential adopters. Feline-Ality-(orange) I'm an executive!
4/30/2010 [10-C155] Claudine
DSH, black, Female spayed, 8 Mo
OWNER TURN IN: With so many cats, I'm very scared that no one will pick me. You see, I am a bit wobbly (I don't know how I got that way), and I can't hear. But let me tell you what I can do. I can feel your heartbeat when you hold me. I can smell the wonderful food when it's dinner time and enjoy the taste and sensation of a pinch of catnip. I can enjoy the warmth of the sunny windowsill and the cool safety of a kitchen floor corner, and the softness of a lap or the great view I get from a cat perch. Yup. There's many things that are wonderful for me. Except one thing. I don't have a home of my own. Can you help?
4/30/2010 [10-C154] Seth
DSH, black, Male neutered, 8 Mo
OWNER TURN IN: Sometimes, cats will come to us in need of medical care. Seth and his buddy Claudine had a skin condition, possibly stress-induced, that needed to be treated before we could offer him to potential adopters. With loving and professional care Seth is cured and healthy and ready to find that perfect new home. Perhaps you have that stable, calm environment that could be the perfect place for this young, unassuming cat.
4/24/2010 [10-A046] French Fry
Domestic Rabbit, borwn & gray ticked, Female, 4 months
OWNER TURN IN: Can you tell that French Fry and her sisters were all named when our staffers were hungry? It really doesn't matter, because we just haven't had the time to teach them to learn their names anyway. But perhaps you could. Rabbits can be trained to use a litter box, so why not expand that training to include responses to your command to 'come here'? French Fry and her sisters shouldn't have to grow up in a shelter. Take one home, or better yet, take two. They'd prefer it that way.
4/24/2010 [10-A048] Pizza
Domestic Rabbit, black, Female, 4 months
OWNER TURN IN: Pizza spends her days huddled with her sisters, searching out a drink of fresh water or looking for some hay or lettuce to chew. Young rabbits have more energy, more need to explore, and (hopefully) less training than older rabbits have. Like puppies, bunnies love to chew. Rabbits chew to wear down their teeth, which grow continuously, but they chew non-food items because they need to explore the world through taste and texture, they need to build strong jaw muscles, and just because it's fun. That yen to chew will wane as Pizza gets older. Altho Pizza and her sisters spend their days confined in a roomy cage, they're all very curious about the world around them. Why not let Pizza explore YOUR world?
4/24/2010 [10-A050] Hot Wings
Domestic Rabbit, black, Female, 4 months
OWNER TURN IN: When this baby was only a few days old she and her whole family came to the safety of our shelter. They are all healthy, soft, socialized and ready for new homes. Rabbits should have a home of their own (in the past, called a "cage") within the family home, large enough for a litter box, food dishes, toys, and them. They should be able to stretch full-length in all directions. Ideally, a "shelf" or "loft" is provided to give opportunity for vertical jumps. With such a home, and hopefully, with companionship of another rabbit, rabbits can be kept in their homes full time except for times of supervised outdoor romps and the 30 minutes (or more) of training they should have daily. In addition to restricting the time in which they are out to those times when you can watch them with your full attention, you want to restrict the space they have access to. As they become well-trained within a restricted area, you can gradually increase their boundaries.
4/24/2010 [10-A051] Popcorn
Domestic Rabbit, black, Female, 4 months
OWNER TURN IN: Let me tell you about myself. I and my sisters don't remember living any place except this shelter and while it's OK here, everyone would much rather have us in a real home. Let me tell you how to get aquainted with me. If you want a rabbit who enjoys jumping on your lap and being stroked, teach me to trust you, by never grabbing or holding me against my will when I come to you. Use treats, nose-to-nose-touching, chin-rubbing (your chin on my face), rubbing around the ears, etc.--whatever I enjoy--to encourage my pleasure in being with you. And if I don't enjoy such activities, so be it. Respect and enjoy my for who I am. After all, you want the same for yourself.
4/24/2010 [10-A045a] Burrito
Domestic Rabbit, brown & grey ticked, Female, 4 months
OWNER TURN IN: Once upon a time there was a mother rabbit who had so many kits she didn't know what to do. Burrito was one of those bunnies; one who waits for someone to take her (and perhaps one of her sisters) home and away from the confines of the shelter. Bunnies do best in pairs, and this group has all been socialized with each other and with people, too. They don't bark, meow, or scratch up all your furniture. Rabbits could be the perfect apartment pet. Let our staff tell you more.
4/20/2010 [10-C137] Phoebe
DSH, calico, Female spayed, 12 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Poor Phoebe, sometimes life just isn't fair. After twelve devoted years, Phoebe's life long owner and companion passed away. She's never lived anywhere else with anyone else, but surprisingly she's holding up pretty well. She definitely likes the canned food that we give our senior animals, and she even lets us brush her and clip her nails. Phoebe is part of our seniors for seniors program and I would love to find her a nice, quiet home with someone willing to share their retirement with her. Feline-Ality-(orange) I'm a sidekick!
4/20/2010 [10-C136a] Sampson
DLH, black, Male neutered, 10 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: It always makes us so sad when we meet older gentlemen like Sampson who have been passed around a bunch just to finally end up in a shelter. Sampson is a little shy and he does best as an only pet, and without small children around. Ideally, he just wants a nice friend willing to brush him, let him snooze on their lap, and of course supply the food. Feline-Ality-(orange) I'm a personal assistant!
4/16/2010 [10-C134] Tasha
DLH, black with gray, Female spayed, Adult
STRAY: Northside near I-90
Tasha was found as a stray so we don't know much about her other than what she has taught us today. Aside from her fur being very matted, she is a beautiful cat! And she was sweet and tolerant enough to let us cut through the tangles. Hopefully we will find whoever owns her but until then, at least she is now safe, comfortable, and has had a good meal. Feline-Ality-(orange) I'm an executive!
4/9/2010 [10-C101] Pat
Siamese X, chocolate point, Male neutered, Older Adult
OWNER TURN IN: Pet me, pet me! Pick me, pick me! Patrick, AKA PattyCakes, is one loving, big boy. He is looking to find someone's lap he can sit on from here until eternity. He's laid-back, sweet, and loves being petted. He not only does well with dogs, he likes them. Yes, he has some weight to lose, but if he's put on an easy diet he'll lose those pounds. Pick PattyCakes, and you'll have a loving partner for years to come. PattyCakes is in a foster home, so if you're interested, pleasee call 549-HSWM or e-mail adoptions@myhswm.org for more information or to arrange a meeting.
4/6/2010 [10-C125] Galaxy
DSH, black, grey with white tabby, Female spayed, Older Adult
ABANDONED: Clinton
Galaxy showed up at someone's house six months ago. They allowed her to stay in their barn, but now have too many pets to keep her around. By no extent of the imagination is she a wild kitty. She loves to snuggle, on anything warm and soft, and she really thinks canned cat food is the best invention ever! Maybe she's just happy she doesn't have to hunt down her next meal! She is ready to retire to a plush life of indoor living, with fleece blankets, sunny perches, and all the mariner's catch she can ask for! Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a private investigator!
3/26/2010 [10-C042] Bernice
DSH, gray/white, Female spayed, Adult
OWNER TURN IN: Hi, I'm Bernice! For all of you who appreciate the independence and sassiness of tortoiseshell and calico cats, I am a torti trapped in a gray cat's body! I just need to find a home where I can be the only cat in the house and be treated like the princess I know I am! Feline-Ality-(orange) I'm an executive!
3/19/2010 [10-C088] Trix
DLH, white with tabby markings, Male neutered, 6 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Trix is a nice, quiet cat who would be a devoted friend for anyone who would like to have him in their home! The poor guy has diabetes but it is easily controlled with medication and we would be glad to show you how to care for him! He just needs another chance and someone who is willing to take care of him! Please call 549-HSWM for more information about this great cat!
3/18/2010 [10-C087] Suzy
DSH, black/white, Female spayed, Older Adult
OWNER TURN IN: Suzy is a sweet cat who just needs a patient person who can wait for her to come out of her shell a little bit. She is shy at first, but she really loves to be pet, and will even play with her toys when she gets comfortable enough. Please stop by if you can and spend some time getting to know Suzy; I know she would love to meet you! Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a private investigator!
3/16/2010 [10-C085] Baby
DSH, grey/black tiger; declawed, Female spayed, 11 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Don't let Baby's age fool you. Not only does she have all the spunk and personality she had as a kitten, but she's also in excellent physical health. She loves to play and groom herself in her water bowl, especially in the mornings! I like my showers in then too! Baby is part of our seniors for seniors program, which means her adoption fee will be waived for anyone 60 and over. Feline-Ality-(orange) I'm a sidekick!
3/5/2010 [10-C076] Penny
DSH, grey; declawed, Female spayed, 11 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Penny's family owned her for eleven years, her entire life, just to surrender her to us because she didn't like the other younger cats in the home. To say the least, she isn't happy about being here, in a cage. She misses her life of treats, toys, and cat naps, and most of all freedom and love. Penny is part of our Seniors for Seniors program and would love a quiet home with someone willing to give her all their attention rather than share with other pets. Her adoption fee will be waived for anyone 60 and over. Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a private investigator!
2/18/2010 [10-C044] Missy
DLH, black, Female spayed, 4 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Poor Missy ended up at the shelter after someone in her household developed allergies. She probably misses her old home; getting treats from family members, coming in and out as she pleased, and snuggling up on the kids' beds at night. But she is ready for a new family to spoil her! She just has to wait for the right one to come along. Feline-ality-(Green) I'm the Leader of the Band!
1/5/2010 [10-C002] Maggie
Siamese X, blue point, Female spayed, 5 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Maggie came in originally with her two housemates, Danny and Big Daddy. She was adopted out for a brief amount of time but it didn't work out. Her adopter just wasn't prepared for how scared she was in a new place. You see Maggie is very timid, and it takes her quite awhile to adjust to new situations. Her owner swears that once comfortable, she blossoms into a super sweet cat! Maggie is currently in a foster home, but she would love a forever home. She just needs someone with the patience to give her time to settle in. Call us at 549-HSWM for more information.
12/28/2009 [09-C726] Pika
DSH, orange tiger, Female spayed, 8 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Pika was the loser in the battle of wills with the family's new puppy. She thought she could teach him him place, but the owners opted for peace at home and surrendered this girl to us. If there's a dog-free home out there, one that loves and appreciates how cool orange cats are, then Pika is here for you. She could make a good domestic mouser for the price of a warm bed and good food. Oh yes, and a bit of catnip now and then, too. Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a secret admirer!
11/21/2009 [09-C540] Orpheus
DSH, orange tiger, Male neutered, 8 Mo
STRAY:
Orpheus has made an amazing recovery. He was brought in exactly two months ago after someone found him motionless in their yard. We all thought he had been hit by a car, he could barely lift his head. He has spent the past two months at Animal Blessing Pet Hospital recuperating. The vet has finally given him a clean bill of health, and he is now ready for adoption. Not only is this cutie a survivor, but he has maintained an extremely pleasant attitude through it all. His extraordinary spirit has touched everyone who has cared for him over the past several months.
9/15/2009 [09-C431] Estelle Boots
DSH, brown/black tiger, Female spayed, 9 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Boots was brought in after the landlord found out about her. We thought such a refined older lady needed more to her name, so she has now become Lady Estelle Boots. She has an entire room reserved as her very own because she insists on being the only cat. as it turns out, she tends to get her way on most matters. She would love a quiet, comfortable home where she will be treated like the royalty deserves. Seniors, her adoption fee will be waived for you! Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a private investigator! 8/22/2009 [09-C451] Twila
DSH, orange tiger; declawed all four, Female spayed, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Twila and her twin sister Twinkle were adopted from us two years ago. Things didn't turn out quite as planned. Two years later they are overweight, declawed on all four paws, and back living in a cage! Apparently their owner remarried and her spouse is allergic to cats. These two are stressed and not doing too well here at the shelter although who can blame them. Ideally we want to find them a new home quickly, but we would also settle for finding a foster home willing to keep them until they are adopted. If you might be interested in such a rewarding service as showering stressed, scared, and abandoned animals with love while they settle in, giving us time to find them the perfect home, please contact us immediately! Feline-Ality-(purple) I'm a private investigator!
