2/2/2010 [10-C031] Melee
DSH, torti, Female spayed, 4 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Melee's family was just expanding too much for the likings of her. The other cats were bad enough, then her owner decided to bring a baby on board. It's not that Melee doesn't like others, she just wants to make sure she still gets tons of attention. Don't forget next week is our 4th annual Adopt-A-Thon, Feb 12th and 13th! Check out our website for details.
2/2/2010 [10-C034] Gladys
DLH, black, Female, Older Adult
STRAY: 34th and Russell
Yesterday afternoon a nice gentleman found Gladys on his doorstep. Boy was she in rough shape, nothing but bones under hair, weighing practically nothing. One thing's for sure, no one has been taking proper care of her, and she has spent too much time suffering already. We gave her a bath right away, and she's grateful for the regular hot meals. Maybe she's been lost for awhile, or made it too far away from home. We would love to see someone come forward to claim her, but only if they love her tons, and promise not to let he out of their sight again.
2/2/2010 [10-C032] B.K.
DSH, black/white; declawed, Male neutered, 7 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Big Kitty, otherwise called B.K. and his brother Scooby are surprised to be here. For years their life has been great, near perfect actually, but suddenly their owners gave them the boot. They have no idea why, but it wasn't because of anything they did. B.K. loves everyone, right away in fact, upon initial introduction he promptly rolls for a belly rub!
2/2/2010 [10-C033] Scooby
DSH, brown/grey tiger, Male neutered, 6 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Three words...Scooby is huge! Seriously, he's like looking at a regular cat under the microscope! Him and his longtime roommate B.K. suddenly found themselves homeless. After six long years together, their lives have turned upside down. We would love to find these two great boys a home together. Don't worry, B.K. is normal size, and he's an indoor cat, while Scooby likes to go outside from time to time. He's king of his jungle for sure!
1/30/2010 [10-A005] Veronica
Rat, cream with tan spots, Female, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Yes folks, you read it right! HSWM now has the sweetest little rat available for adoption. She loves to be held and is quite content riding around on your shoulders. She loves snuggling in warm, super soft blankies, and of course munching on yummy snacks! Veronica has lived with kids and would make a great family pet for those of you not quite ready for a dog or cat.
1/30/2010 [10-A006] Stormin' Norman
Mini Rex, white w/ brown and black spots, Male neutered, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: It seems like each time we clear out space in our bunny room a new one comes through the door. We have had amazing luck though, each new one is even more fabulous than the last! Stormin' Norman is no exception! Not only is his coat extraordinary, but he loves being around people. He'll let you pet him all day long, heck, he'll even come when you call him, just don't pick him up. In honor of February being adopt a bunny month, and of course our 4th Annual Adopt-A-Thon, this 12th and 13th, spayed and neutered bunnies will be just $14.
1/30/2010 [10-C027] Tokyo
DSH, dilute torti, Female spayed, 3 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Tokyo's owner had too many cats and chose to give her up. Her loss Tokyo says! She is a proud, confident lady who refuses to let her situation bring her down. She wants a new home with someone who loves her for who she is, a chubby girl with a love for food and drinking out of the faucet!
1/29/2010 [10-C025] Elsa
DSH, black and tan tiger, Female spayed, 6 Mo
OWNER TURN IN: Believe it or not, Elsa and Mustachio were brought in for having too much fun! Their adopter just couldn't keep up. They love toys and are still at that age where just about anything can be turned into one. We think the right person will be happy to have such fun lovin' kitties in their home.
1/29/2010 [10-C026] Mustachio
DSH, black/tan tiger, Male neutered, 6 Mo
OWNER TURN IN: Mustachio and his sister just had a dispute over the rules in their household. They thought since their owners were gone all day they would use that time to sleep, saving playtime for night. They are typical youngsters, energetic and searching for fun. I am confindent these two will find a better match at our 4th Annual Adopt-A-Thon Feb. 12th and 13th. Check out our website to see how you can sponsor a 'furry' friend for your loved one this Valentine's day.
1/27/2010 [10-C024] Adeline
DSH, orange tiger with white; declawed, Female, 2 Yr
ABANDONED:
Believe it or not, Adeline was abandoned outside our shelter just minutes before we opened for the day. It leaves a lot to the imagination. We know that she is declawed which means someone cared for her at one time. We hope to learn more about Adeline as the days go by, but in the mean time she would love a visit from you. Perhaps she will find her forever companion at our 4th annual Adopt-A-Thon this Feb. 12th and 13th?
1/26/2010 [10-C022] Bee
DSH, black/white, Female spayed, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Although she is nearly two years, little Bee is no bigger than a bug. She is a petite black and white girl with an playful zest for life. Toys and catnip are some of her favorite ways to spend her time, and she even likes other cats and dogs! Perhaps you want to bring her home from our 4th Annual Adopt-A-Thon, Feb. 12th and 13th!
1/22/2010 [10-C019] Dawson
DSH, orange tiger, Male Intact, Adult
STRAY: South Hills
Dawson is a super handsome orange boy! He is a little shy right now but I have no doubt he is going to come out of his shell in no time. The person who brought him in says he has been wandering the neighborhood for months so there may be no one looking for him but we are hoping to get him into a new loving home soon!
1/22/2010 [09-C639] Claudine
DSH, black, Female spayed, Kitten
OWNER TURN IN: Claudine came in with a bunch of other kittens, but I am pretty sure she is the unanimous favorite among staff and volunteers! While her siblings are adorable, Claudine just stands out among the rest. And surprisingly enough, it is not because she happens to be deaf and a little wobbly. She just has the greatest personality, loves people, and is very curious about everything! She has no idea she is different and just needs a home like everyone else!
1/19/2010 [10-A004] Tootsie
Rabbit, brown, Female, 3 Mo
OWNER TURN IN: Boy do we have a great group of 'others' right now! Tootsie is our latest arrival and she is one sweet bunny! She loves all people, even kids, and she'll even let you pick her up whenever you want! She also likes dogs! Stop in and ask our shelter bunny experts for more information our an alternative fluffy companions.
1/16/2010 [10-C016] Prius
DLH, white, Female spayed, 4 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: I can't believe someone would abandon such a beautilful girl, but that's exactly what happened. Prius was left behind when her owners moved and the family that found her could not keep her. She is shy at first, but who can blame her. Humans have repeatedly dissappointed her and she is beginning to lose faith. She deserves so much more.
1/15/2010 [10-C015] Sara
DSH, black and white, Female spayed, 8 Mo
OWNER TURN IN: Sara is a petite young cat who gets along with people, dogs, and other cats. Her owner is just traveling too much to give her the attention she deserves, but describes Sara as a "friendly, quiet lap cat." Sounds like a good match for anyone who needs a little extra companionship!
1/15/2010 [10-C014] Sylvester
DSH, black w/ white, Male neutered, 3 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Poor Sylvester has had a rough go of it lately. Other cats in the neighborhood have apparently been picking on him for quite some time and he has had enough! As we handled this big guy we also noticed he has a deep laceration on his tail; it looks pretty painful but we got it all cleaned up and it should start to heal. On top of it all, he comes to the shelter and learns he will be put on a diet! But at nearly 20 pounds, he really could stand to shed a few! Hopefully his luck will change soon and he can get adopted into a wonderful new home!
1/15/2010 [10-C013] Rae
DSH, black; declawed, Male neutered, 5 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Rae is a good looking cat and he knows it! He walks around with the confidence you would expect from any handsome guy; but just pick him up and he melts into your arms purring!
1/14/2010 [10-C010] Aspen
Siamese X, Torti point, Female spayed, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Aspen and her friend Annie had been living outside on someone's property for quite some time. They just assumed the two cats, who acted skittish outside, were feral. Upon arrival we learned that they are actually very sweet, friendly girls, who prefer indoor life to fending for themselves outdoors. Aspen is a beautiful petite Siamese who with the right amount of patience and love, will flourish in a new home.
1/14/2010 [10-C011] Annie
DSH, dilute torti with white, Female spayed, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Annie is a petite young girl! She is a little shy at first but seems to like to be snuggled...we think she will warm up quickly! Come to the shelter to see how sweet she can be!
1/9/2010 [10-C008] Aubrey
DSH, torti, Female, 1 Yr
STRAY:
This tiny, scared little life was found as a stray in the cold in St. Ignatius. She caught a little cat cold during her time outside in a Montana Winter, and will soon be back in robust health thanks to our caring staff. We treat many types of medical problems at our shelter, through the guidance of a wonderful assortment of veterinarians. Sometimes, medical issues require a substantial investment of time and funds. For that purpose, we rely on donations to help more seriously injured or ill animals. Aubrey won't require much help, and we expect her recovery to be swift and complete.
1/7/2010 [10-C007] Spencer
DMH, grey tiger, Male neutered, 3 Yr
STRAY:
Brought into a home with two other cats after being found as a stray, Spencer stated in clear terms that he was uncomfortable with that arranagement. Spencer is a very handsome cat, and once had a home that cared for him. He is reportedly quite vocal; perhaps that's his way of telling us that he really wants to go home. Spencer appears to tolerate older children and some dogs. Why not spend some time with Spencer and let him tell you his story.
1/7/2010 [10-C005] Sonny
DSH, orange tiger, Male neutered, 7 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Sonny is starving...for affection. Sadly, when his owner died, Sonny came to us in hopes of a second chance. While we expect that he's confused to be here, he comes right up and looks deep into your eyes, hoping to find some care and concern there. We think, once someone sees what an affectionate, trusting fellow Sonny is, that they'll take him to his forever home. Our guess is that he'll spend the rest of his life dedicated to you, if you give him that second chance.
1/7/2010 [10-C006] Xena
DMH, calico; declawed, Female spayed, 9 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Xena had the perfect life for nine wonderful years. Her and her owner were the best of friends and they took care of each other. Recently Xena's owner passed away and she was left with no one. She is a bit shell shocked but is warming up to shelter life. She is most anxious to get away from all the other cats. You see she ruled the roost for all those years and isn't prepared to start sharing her space now. I believe there is someone out there perfect for Xena, someone in need of one special friend to spend retirement together. Xena is part of our Seniors for Seniors program, meaning her adoption fee will be waived for anyone 60 or over.
1/5/2010 [10-C002] Maggie
Siamese X, blue point, Female spayed, 5 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Maggie came in originally with her two housemates, Danny and Big Daddy. She was adopted out for a brief amount of time but it didn't work out. Her adopter just wasn't prepared for how scared she was in a new place. You see Maggie is very timid, and it takes her quite awhile to adjust to new situations. Her owner swears that once comfortable, she blossoms into a super sweet cat! Maggie is currently in a foster home, but she would love a forever home. She just needs someone with the patience to give her time to settle in. Call us at 549-HSWM for more information.
1/5/2010 [10-C004] Phoebe
DSH, black, Female spayed, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Phoebe has been outgoing since her arrival at the shelter. She was brought in because the resident cat didn't like having her around, although she has no idea why. She loved the Great Dane she lived with. Her owners described her as vocal and we've noticed she does get chatty around meal times and when she wants attention. She does like having the freedom to venture outside from time to time.
12/31/2009 [09-C730] Rizzy
Siamese X, chocolate point, Female spayed, 12 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: For the holidays, Rizzy lost her best cat friend and then her home. We see no reason why this friendly, inquisitive girl doesn't have many years of happiness ahead of her. In those years, she can bring you a lot of joy and if you bring her into your home, you'll give this indoor cat the perfect New Year's gift. Rizzy is also available through our Seniors for Seniors program. Ask us.
12/29/2009 [09-C728] Tigger
DSH, black/brown tiger, Male neutered, 3 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: The new year could be a new beginning for Tigger, an indoor-only cat who could not coexist with the other pets in the home. Therefore, a new home without other cats or dogs is Tigger's New Year's resolution; so he can corner ALL of your love and attention. Offer him a treat and he'll show you how affectionate he can be.
12/29/2009 [09-C721] Macavity
DSH, black, Male neutered, 1 Yr Collar: black with tag
STRAY: KOA Campground
That's the name on this cat's collar. Thus far unsuccessful in tracking down his owners, we're putting his face out there because we'd really like to reunite him with his family. If they don't show up, however, we are certain that this healthy, friendly boy will be a nice addition to a new family.
12/28/2009 [09-C726] Pika
DSH, orange tiger, Female spayed, 8 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Pika was the loser in the battle of wills with the family's new puppy. She thought she could teach him him place, but the owners opted for peace at home and surrendered this girl to us. If there's a dog-free home out there, one that loves and appreciates how cool orange cats are, then Pika is here for you. She could make a good domestic mouser for the price of a warm bed and good food. Oh yes, and a bit of catnip now and then, too.
12/19/2009 [09-C713] Rosie
DLH, torti, Female spayed, 3 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Thinking of getting a cat? Rosie likes to be the only feline in a home, enjoys living inside but likes the outdoors too, might be able to live with a small dog or even some children. She's described as friendly yet sometimes shy, playful yet a closet couch potato, athletic and ready to chase a ball at any given time. Our staff can provide a lot of helpful advice on bringing home an only cat; such as how and when to feed her, how to acclimate her to your home and the litterbox, and what to do if you need to understand any of a cat's behaviors. We're a great resource for animal information. Use us.
12/16/2009 [09-C656] Duffy
DSH, buff/white, Male neutered, 12 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Duffy is a big, snuggly fellow. He will call out to you from across the room for lovins. He gets especially chatty if you aren't giving him enough attention. He also likes snuggling with his shy brother Blaze and insists that they get adopted together. He even likes having dogs around. These boys are a great package and you can take them both home for the price of one!
12/16/2009 [09-C676] Blaze
DSH, buff/white, Male neutered, 12 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Blaze and his brother Duffy not only came from the same home but they are littermates too. They have lived together their whole lives and want to stay together. Blaze is a bit more shy, but he considers himself better looking than his brother. He likes snuggling into your shoulder and honestly prefers the right side. How cute is that!
12/16/2009 [09-C691] Indigo
DSH, grey with white, Male neutered, 4 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Indigo, or 'Indy' as he likes to be called ended up here because his owner got evicted. He gets along with all people, even kids, but he hasn't spent much time around other animals. However out of place he may feel right now, he has a charming personality that is sure to win over the first family to stop by for a visit.
12/16/2009 [09-C690] Sanibel
Siamese, snowshoe, Female spayed, Adult
STRAY: Eaton St.
Sanibel was found several months ago as a stray. The person that found her kept her until their landlord found out. She is an adult cat, somewhere between four and seven. She is scared of too much change too fast, but she warms up when given the time. We would love to find her original owner, but if not she deserves a second chance. She tolerates dogs but really just wants affection from people. She should appeal to anyone that appreciates Siamese cats. Update: Sanibel is out for a test drive!
12/15/2009 [09-A082] Timber
Lop Rabbit, mink, Male neutered, Adult
OWNER TURN IN: You have to see and pet the luxurious coat of this gorgeous lop-eared fellow. Timber was a gift who just gave a little too much (grief) to the owner's other male rabbit. He's probably trying to tell us that he'd rather be the top rabbit in a new home. He's smart, too. Tigger can find and use any gap in your fencing or cage to escape to the world beyond your borders. Like many rabbits, Tigger likes to rearrange the items in his enclosure. Well, OK, we hear he throws things. We also hear that he has a taste for the finer things in a rabbit's diet, like grapes, dark green veggies, bananas, and kale. Once fed, he'll let you pet and brush him to his heart's content.
12/12/2009 [09-C689] Irene
DSH, black with a touch of white, Female spayed, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Irene's family just had too many pets, she wasn't getting proper attention. She is a chatty, young thing, without a care in the world. As far as she's concerned, she deserves better! She loves hanging out with people and especially people with canine companions. She also tolerates other cats as long as she gets attention too!
12/11/2009 [09-C687] Big Daddy
DLH, black, Male neutered, Adult
OWNER TURN IN: Big Daddy and his two friends have been together for a very long time. All three were found as strays and adopted by a kind person who developed severe allergies after several months. Now they're all homeless once again. While they're new to shelter life and scared and shy, they find comfort in each other's company. Big Daddy might just be the perfect cat for your home, filling up sunbeams, relaxing in a cat tower or keeping your lap warm. Give Big Daddy a brushing every now and then and listen for the nonstop purring.
12/11/2009 [09-C686] Danny
DSH, black/white, Male neutered, Adult
OWNER TURN IN: Months ago, Danny was found as a stray in the university area, but unfortunately lost his home when his human developed severe allergies. Now we're hoping for a second chance for this shy boy. Danny has lived with other cats, perching on a cat tower or lazing in the sun, enjoys visits from adult humans but not dogs, and knows how to use his scratching post. Stop by and see this handsome black and white boy and you just might fall in love.
12/10/2009 [09-C510] Princess
DSH, black, Female spayed, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Princess arrived at our shelter just days away from giving birth. We rushed her into foster care where her babies were born happy and healthy. They have all been adopted but Princess is still waiting for her forever home. She likes other cats, and doesn't mind dogs either.
12/10/2009 [09-C684a] Alice
DSH, grey/white tiger, Female spayed, 4 1/2 mos.
OWNER TURN IN: Alice's life can only be measured in weeks, but that hasn't kept it from being unfairly unkind. She was found as an emaciated, extremely sick, wounded kitten. She spent the past month in a wonderful foster home where she recieved tons of round the clock care and affection. She is now healthy, happy, extra playful, and ready for adoption!
12/10/2009 [09-C680] Geena
DMH, calico; polydactyl, Female spayed, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: At first glance, Geena is quite attractive, big shiny eyes and a bright white coat, but then your eyes travel down to all those extra toes, and you can't help but laugh! It's especially silly when she marches around the room at full purr volume.
12/3/2009 [09-Wobs] Wobs
DSH, gray/white, Female spayed, 6 Mo
STRAY: St. Ignatius
This adorable kitten is available for adoption through a dog trainer HSWM works with. Please contact her directly for more information or to adopt. Wobs was found starving in a very rural area. Against the odds she managed to avoid coyotes, hawks and cars. She is deaf and has cerebellar hypoplasia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerebellar_hypoplasia_(non-human). Although she has a noticeable head wobble she is mildly affected, is very playful, enjoys life, and can negotiate her way through the house very easily. Wobs is super friendly, loves people, likes friendly dogs but is aggressive towards other cats. Wobs needs a family who will appreciate her unique qualities! She's spayed, healthy and up to date on vaccinations. For more information please contact Sarah Gibson at 406-327-7996 or email sarah@alldogstraining.biz.
12/2/2009 [09-C661]
DSH, black, Female spayed, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Constance showed up back in December with her litter of 9 in tow! She wasn't much bigger than a kitten herself, and it was a lot of work feeding all those hungry babies, so we enlisted the help of one of our foster moms. She's had her turn at motherhood and Constance has decided that she is much more suited for the single life. She loves attention and doesn't want to share with all her babies. After all her hard work, we think she deserves some one on one time!
12/1/2009 [09-A079] Sunflower
Domestic Rabbit, brown tones, Female spayed, Adult
STRAY:
We don't know how this abandoned bunny lost her leg, but we do know that it's healed and she gets around quite well on the other three. She could use a little more exercise to keep the weight off her middle (couldn't we all). Her medical evaluation was just fine, and her appetite backs up that this unusual girl is in good health. She's just waiting for a perfect home that'll help keep her safe from bullies with four legs and provide a little comfort as well.
11/27/2009 [09-C653] Frankie
DSH, black, Female spayed, 5 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Frankie and her friend Pandora were brought in when their owner had to move and could not bring them along. She loves people, other cats, and catnip! She would make a sweet cat inside, and will keep those pesky mice away outside!
11/21/2009 [09-C540] Orpheus
DSH, orange tiger, Male neutered, 8 Mo
STRAY:
Orpheus has made an amazing recovery. He was brought in exactly two months ago after someone found him motionless in their yard. We all thought he had been hit by a car, he could barely lift his head. He has spent the past two months at Animal Blessing Pet Hospital recuperating. The vet has finally given him a clean bill of health, and he is now ready for adoption. Not only is this cutie a survivor, but he has maintained an extremely pleasant attitude through it all. His extraordinary spirit has touched everyone who has cared for him over the past several months.
11/19/2009 [09-C636] Gillian
DSH, black; declawed, Female spayed, 5 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Gillian is so soft and sweet. Sometimes the quiet ones get overlooked. She really likes gentle pets and brushings or just napping on your lap. She even tolerates having dogs around. At the end of the day, Gillian just wants someone to come home to her.
11/19/2009 [09-C633] Damion
DSH, black with white, Male neutered, 3 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Damion's family decided to move without their cats, something all too common around here. He had the perfect kitty life until now. He had the freedom to come and go as he pleased, and his home had plenty of mice outside and toys inside to keep him entertained. He pretty much likes all people, including young children, and he lived with other cats.
11/19/2009 [09-C640] Seth
DSH, black, Male neutered, Kitten
STRAY:
Seth and his siblings were born to a feral mom and brought to us at a very young age. Through contact with their foster family and our staff, they're enjoying being with humans and romping with the other residents of our kitten pod. It's a great time to bring a kitten into your home. Seth will volunteer for that position.
11/19/2009 [09-C642] Rollie Pollie
DSH, black, Female spayed, Kitten
STRAY:
OK, so I've got one eye. I can check you out with the other one, y'know. I LOVE attention and I can even roll over if you're offering a belly scratch. I like all typical kitten things, but am quickly growing into an adult. Teach me how to act and I'll do my part to be your best friend....and keep that one eye on you forever.
11/19/2009 [09-C641] Josephine
DSH, black, Female spayed, Kitten
STRAY:
Oof dah, what a life I've led so far! First, I was born in the great outdoors, then I got whisked away and lived indoors with a foster family, now I'm in this bustling shelter. Sometimes people come by our kitten pod, peer in and don't see me. I'm the shy black kitten trying to hide. Give me a reason to come back into the world and I'll give you several reasons to take me home and make me your own.
11/18/2009 [09-C632] Stewie
DSH, black, Male neutered, 1 Yr
STRAY:
It's tough economical times and Stewie's family just couldn't afford to continue caring for a cat. From what I can see Stewie can't be much trouble. He likes to spend lots of time outside mousing, and especially playing with the horses. In fact, he LOVES horses! He also likes other cats and dogs too! Surely there is someone out there with a pasture or a barn where this guy can spend his afternoons and a lap to warm up on in the evenings? UPDATE: Stewie is out on a test drive!
11/13/2009 [09-C617] Maizy May
DSH, torti tiger, Female spayed, 4 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Maizy May might look a little shy, but she warms up to new people pretty quickly. Especially if you call her; she seems to know and love her name! She also loves dogs, is good with other cats, and she'll even play fetch with the kids!
11/4/2009 [09-C607] Sally
DSH, torti tiger; declawed all fours, Female, Older Adult
STRAY: I-90 Montana/Idaho border
Sally was picked up scared and alone at a rest stop on the Idaho/Montana border off of interstate 90. A nice gentleman drove her to us on his way through. She appears a bit on the thin side but she has a healthy appetite and loves to drink out of the water faucet. Sally is declawed on all four so she does not appreciate being left outside to fend for herself, but perhaps it was all just a big misunderstanding. Maybe she jumped out of someone's car at the rest stop without being noticed?
10/27/2009 [09-C528] Lilly
DSH, grey/brown tiger, Female spayed, 3 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Lilly is a sassy young lady just itching to get out of the shelter. She has always had the freedom to come and go as she pleases and does not appreciate being cooped up in a cage most of the day. She's also worried that while she's stuck inside the mice might be trying to take over outside. She is an excellent mouser and hates to see her talents going to waste!
10/27/2009 [09-C601] Cain
DSH, white; declawed all four, Male neutered, 5 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Cain hasn't ever really had a place to call his own, instead he's been passed from home to home. He is declawed on all four paws, meaning he should have an indoor only home. He lived with dogs though and doesn't seem to mind them much, although other cats aren't his favorite.
10/24/2009 [09-C549] Peaches
DSH, white with orange spots, Female spayed, 6 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Peaches did not feel well when she first arrived at our shelter. She was in severe pain from a urinary tract infection, and it turned she was coming down with a cold too! Now several weeks have passed and she is feeling much better, in fact she is turning out to be one of our sweetest cats. She squeaks as soon as you enter the room, and she loves to head butt you! Peaches just wants someone to keep her safe, warm, and loved!
10/21/2009 [09-C598] Paws
DSH, torti with white; polydactyl, Female spayed, 8 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: When you meet her it's pretty obvious where she gets her name. Although if it were up to me I would call her toes instead because she's got tons of them! In any case, Paws it is and that's fine with her. She loves food and it wouldn't kill her to lose a couple pounds but she thinks she's perfect. Paws is a princess and she isn't afraid who knows it. As silly as those toes make her look, she won't have you laughing at her!
10/7/2009 [09-C560] Harry
DLH, gray; front declawed, Male neutered, 3 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Handsome is as handsome does', and Harry does handsome better than most. His looks and demeanor lend a regal air to his environment. We think Harry will be a popular cat, so why not stop by and see if you agree that he looks like the dictionary definition of handsome, cat-wise, that is. UPDATE: Harry is out on a test drive!
9/29/2009 [09-C552a] Cumin
DMH, black, Male neutered, Kitten
OWNER TURN IN: Little Cumin came from a feral mom, but with love and attention, a little good food and lots of space to safely play and sleep, he has grown into the perfect size for adopting. Check our any of our wide selection of kittens and cats and we're sure you'll find the perfect size and personality for you.
9/15/2009 [09-C431] Estelle Boots
DSH, brown/black tiger, Female spayed, 9 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Boots was brought in after the landlord found out about her. We thought such a refined older lady needed more to her name, so she has now become Lady Estelle Boots. She has an entire room reserved as her very own because she insists on being the only cat. as it turns out, she tends to get her way on most matters. She would love a quiet, comfortable home where she will be treated like the royalty deserves. Seniors, her adoption fee will be waived for you!
9/8/2009 [09-C491] Ralph
Siamese X, grey/white, Male neutered, 10 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Talk about some rotten luck! Ralph was originally brought to us after his owner passed away. About a month ago we adopted him out to a nice older gentleman from the Bitterroot. Come to find out Ralph's new owner was hospitalized and Ralph ended up at the Bitterroot Humane Society. We now have him back, and in spite of his recent hardships, Ralph has an amazing attitude! He loves people and he loves to eat, in that order! This delightful senior deserves to finally settle in somewhere, perhaps you know somewhere?
9/1/2009 [09-C495] Emma
DSH, grey/black tiger; declawed, Female spayed, 7 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Emma is described and friendly AND shy. At some time during the day, virtually every cat wants to be alone and will find a secluded place to crawl into. She falls into the mid range of typical feline behaviors. Easygoing, quiet, and a lounge lizard. Yet Emma is up to the challenge of a game of chase and keep-away with her toys, honing her innate hunting skills.
8/22/2009 [09-C451] Twila
DSH, orange tiger; declawed all four, Female spayed, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Twila and her twin sister Twinkle were adopted from us two years ago. Things didn't turn out quite as planned. Two years later they are overweight, declawed on all four paws, and back living in a cage! Apparently their owner remarried and her spouse is allergic to cats. These two are stressed and not doing too well here at the shelter although who can blame them. Ideally we want to find them a new home quickly, but we would also settle for finding a foster home willing to keep them until they are adopted. If you might be interested in such a rewarding service as showering stressed, scared, and abandoned animals with love while they settle in, giving us time to find them the perfect home, please contact us immediately!
8/22/2009 [09-C452] Twinkle
DSH, orange tiger; declawed on all four, Female spayed, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: The only thing telling these two orange dream colored ladies apart is their size. Twinkle is a couple pounds lighter than her sister, however they both could use a diet. Two years ago they were tiny little matching littermates, now they find themselves back here, homeless for the second time in their rather short lives. Both girls are declawed on all four paws and are having a difficult time adjusting to shelter life. If you can help in any way, please call us at 549-HSWM.
8/8/2009 [09-A059] Graphite
Domestic Rabbit, darkest gray, Female spayed, 2 Mo
OWNER TURN IN: When choosing a rabbit, there are many things to consider. Every home with a free ranging rabbit should be rabbit-proofed; that is, wires and power cords should be protected from busy teeth. Also understand that very young children can injure small rabbit. Other pets in the home (cats or dogs) should be responsive to your commands and not be driven by the prey instinct. Make sure you have the proper size cage so your bunny always has a safe place to go when you're not around to supervise. With some simple precautions, your rabbit adoption should be a rewarding experience.
7/3/2009 [09-A051] Cloves
Domestic Rabbit, white, Female spayed, 2 months
OWNER TURN IN: Bunnies can be adopted when they are 8 weeks old. That gives them enough time to develop intestinal bacteria necessary to maintain a healthy life. Some rabbits can lead great lives indoors. Even if being allowed to hop around the home, the bunny is going to need its own space to retreat to; therefore it is important to obtain the right cage. The right cage is large enough to house a water bottle, a food bowl and a litter tray, as well as enabling the bunny to stand up upon its hind legs. Ask our animal specialists for more information on caring for and living with rabbits.
6/18/2009 [09-C292a] Fresca
DSH, black/tan tiger, Female spayed, 5 yrs.
STRAY: Scott Street Bridge, Missoula
A bridge could be a great place to hang out, but Fresca was out long enough that we think she just got confused after being given to a new owner. We hope they find her safe and comfortable here. Strays are advertised in the local paper, often posted on the web, and treated for any immediate medical needs while awaiting their owners to find them.
6/10/2009 [09-C279] Spirit
DSH, dilute torti with white, Female spayed, 7 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Spirit's owner could no longer care for her, but was so sad to give up such a sweet girl. She loves catnip and kitty treats and is happy to earn them with affection. She can get a bit overwhelmed with too much activity, and would prefer a quiet household. She is also a part of our Seniors for Seniors program and will make a great companion.
6/2/2009 [09-C258] Norma Jean
DSH, white with brown tiger patches, blue eyes, Female spayed, 3 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Norma Jean, formerly known as Sara May, has returned from her foster home with a whole new attitude! She gets an entire suite to herself, and appreciates all the extra attention her location brings her. She loves to play, and has a knack for turning anthing or anyone into a toy!
4/29/2009 [09-C067] Winnie
DSH, grey, Female spayed, 6 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: I'm far too elegant to spent much more time in a shelter. Although my staff is meeting my basic needs thus far and I can't complain about the quality of the cuisine, I would much prefer the comforts of a real home. I will tolerate one with cats and perhaps a dog, but I must have a soft place to lounge. I will sing for my supper and return prompt service with my attention and affection.
