7/2/2009 [09-C332] Luna
DSH, grey, Female, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Luna is a petite lady with adorable big eyes, and the softest coat. She gets along with other cats, but kids can be a bit overwhelming for her. She just finished raising a litter of kittens and is ready to take some time for herself, maybe a visit to the kitty spa?
7/2/2009 [09-C339] Windy
DMH, black/grey tiger with white, Female, 9 weeks
OWNER TURN IN: Windy and her littermates, the rest of the cool weather clan, were born to a feral mom. They have had weeks of extensive handling and socialization, and today they arrive snuggly, extra friendly, and anxious to experience indoor life.
7/2/2009 [09-C340] Hail
DSH, black/white tuxedo, Male Intact, 9 weeks
OWNER TURN IN: Hail is a 2.2 pound tuxedo kitten. He currently spends his time eating, playing and then eating some more! He must be anxious to grow up big and strong.
7/2/2009 [09-C341] Thunder
DSH, black/white tuxedo, Male Intact, 12 weeks
OWNER TURN IN: Standing at a whopping 3.0 pounds, Thunder is the biggest of his group. Using his size, and experience to his advantage, he is the first to leap across the room and onto your lap! Don't forget, all of our kittens are two for the price of one adoption!
7/2/2009 [09-C342] Tigger
DMH, brown, black & white tiger, Male neutered, 3 1/2 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Tigger and his brother Oreo were originally rescued from a farm. Now they in need of rescue again. His previous owner said his only behavior quirk is that he is " very cuddly!" That doesn't sound so bad to me.
7/2/2009 [09-C343] Oreo
DLH, black with white, Male neutered, 3 1/2 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: I know we have had a lot of Oreo's over the years, but this guy is determined to stand out. He spends all day rubbing, purring, and pawing until someone gives in and snuggles him. He likes other cats, especially his brother Tigger, and even likes little dogs. He can get a bit chatty, especially at meal time. Oreo would love a home where he can spend some time outside in the yard as well as inside on your lap.
7/2/2009 [09-C344] Lydia
DSH, black/white, Female spayed, 8 weeks
OWNER TURN IN: Lydia and her brother Burlington were bought to us because their owner just didn't have the time for them. Lydia is litterbox trained and has lived with dogs. All of our kittens are vaccinated and spayed or neutered before leaving the shelter.
7/2/2009 [09-C331] Lola
DSH, torbie, Female, 3 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: This is the cat so many families have been waiting for. Lola absolutely loves kids! Whether it's being held, dressed up, or just snuggled, Lola is comfortable in your arms.
6/30/2009 [09-C329] Melody
DSH, black, Female, 8 Mo
OWNER TURN IN: Like so many others, Melody is here because her owner chose to move without her! She lived with five other cats and a puppy, and got along with everyone. She loves catnip, treats, and toys in that order!
6/27/2009 [09-C327] Drew
DSH, black with white, Female, Kitten
OWNER TURN IN: The world is still a mystery to me. I guess that's because I'm so young. I'm pretty busy right now, playing with the other shelter kittens, exploring the kitten pod and enjoying lots of toys and food. I'm a little young to go home right now, but right after the 4th of July I'll be ready to get a new home and begin to solve the mysteries of life. Can you help provide any clues?
6/27/2009 [09-C220] Sparkler
DMH, black, Male neutered, Kitten
OWNER TURN IN: The whole litter came into the shelter when they were only 10 days old. "Mom was a feral cat, but we've all been fostered, fattened up and socialized so now we're ready for living with people in homes of our own. Stop by and pick out one or more of us. I'm the cute black one with the great personality."
6/27/2009 [09-C328] Nancy
DSH, tortie, Female, Kitten
OWNER TURN IN: While her litter mate Drew attempts to solve the mysteries of life, young tortie Nancy just enjoys life as it comes. She was OK with dogs and other cats, enjoyed all the typical feline things; toys, playing hide and seek, and warm laps. Now ready for a permanent home and a life full of adventure, Nancy will be available right after Independence Day. Stop by and place a "hold" on this young kitten today.
6/27/2009 [09-C326] Dunbar
DSH, orange, Male Intact, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: At the start of his adult life, Dunbar finds himself homeless and waiting for a new chance. He's lived indoors all his life, coexisting with adult humans, dogs and other cats. The outdoor world is frightening to this guy, as is the vacuum. Understandable. Other than that, he is a pretty tolerant fellow who could fit into most any household.
6/27/2009 [09-C330] Mark Twain
Siamese X, seal point, Male Intact, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: I do not know why I lost my home when my human moved, but here I am; yet another homeless cat. I've done my best to tolerate new situations and I have even lived with a puppy. I'm good in the house, like to play outside during the daytime, a big fan of window sills in the sun, and will meow for your attention. I'll be a great friend to you if you'll just ply me with a little catnip every now and then.
6/26/2009 [09-C324] Kiki
DSH, grey, Female spayed, 4 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: My human is going to college, but I couldn't get accepted. Now I'm hoping someone else will take me in. I'm told I'm a friendly, indoor-only cat, experienced living with adult humans, children, dogs and cats; used to having the run of the house, like catnip and being brushed. I can entertain myself without toys -- I'm a great bug chaser and I can be pretty playful (although I love relaxing on a lap or on a couch).
6/26/2009 [09-C323] Frizmo
DMH, black/white, Male Intact, 4 months
OWNER TURN IN: Frizmo is "Pug"-alicious. He's lived with pugs and adored his canine friends. Under a bit too much stress recently for such a young guy, Frizmo now just needs a second chance and a stable home where he can feel secure indoors. Offer him security and he'll respond with affection.
6/25/2009 [09-C299] Bogie
DSH, orange with white, Male Intact, 4 Yr
STRAY:
Bogie was left behind when his family moved - we don't think that's any way to treat a pet! Since his arrival, he's been vaccinated and wormed and given earmite medication. Bogie is feeling much better and is looking forward to his neuter next week. Stop by a take a look at Bogie and all the other great orange boys at the shelter.
6/25/2009 [09-C268] Dwight
DMH, black with grey undercoat, Male neutered, 8 weeks
OWNER TURN IN: You might be able to tell by the description, but Dwight is quite a good looking fellow. At first glance he appears black and fluffy, but when you look closer you'll notice a striking grey undercoat. I'm sure Dwight will grow up into quite a distinguished gentleman.
6/24/2009 [09-C308] Stormy
DSH, grey/white, Male neutered, 7 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Stormy and his sister Shadow arrived here after their owner moved without them. Stormy has spent all his life indoors, and would prefer to stay inside, safe and sound. You can take home both Stormy and Shadow for the price of one, and through July, it'll just be $35.
6/24/2009 [09-C309] Shadow
DSH, grey, Female, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: As her name implies, this adorable tiny grey girl is literally her brother Stormy's "Shadow." She is a little scared in this overwhelming environment, and he makes her feel safe. They like to sleep and snuggle together.
6/24/2009 [09-C320] Harold
DSH, black with white, Male Intact, 7 weeks
STRAY: Central Av.
Tiny little 1.6 pound Harold was found scared and all alone in someone's garage. Who knows how he got himself in such a situation, but at least he is safe and sound with us now. If you are missing your extra small little fellow, please give us a call. Otherwise he will be available for adoption after 6/25.
6/19/2009 [09-C294] Nikki
DSH, black, Female spayed, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Yup. Another black cat. But Nikki is a standout. Her fur is shiny and healthy, indicative of the good care she received from her former owner. Nikki has lived with adult people and children. She has also lived with other cats and even dogs. Seems like she could fit in almost anywhere. Stop by Tues-Sat noon-5pm and ask to see Nikki soon.
6/19/2009 [09-C297] Anastasia
DSH, orange with white, Female, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Anastasia and her baby Dmitri were brought to the shelter when the landlord said, 'No more pets!' She is a sassy orange girl who can't wait to be spayed! Please stop by the shelter and spend some time with Anastasia.
6/18/2009 [09-A047] Martin
Teddy Bear Hamster, tan/white, Male Intact, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: If you see a hamster ball rolling around the floors of our shelter, chances are it's powered by our resident marathoner-hamster; Martin. Brought in with his pal Lewis, these guys look pretty sleepy during the days. That's because they're nocturnal. Oil up their exercise wheel or put them in their hamster balls and let them get out their energies without interrupting your sleep.
6/18/2009 [09-A048] Lewis
Teddy Bear Hamster, brown/white, Male Intact, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Lewis is just fine with his pal, Martin, and is used to being handled by kids. Like his buddy, he also likes to get into his hamster ball and roll around the house. He and the owner's dogs had an agreement. Don't try to eat the hamster in the ball, and he won't roll over your toes. We think both Lewis and Martin would make perfect pets for those with a smaller home or an apartment.
6/18/2009 [09-C292a] Fresca
DSH, black/tan tiger, Female, 5 yrs.
STRAY: Scott Street Bridge, Missoula
A bridge could be a great place to hang out, but Fresca was out long enough that we think she just got confused after being given to a new owner. We hope they find her safe and comfortable here. Strays are advertised in the local paper, often posted on the web, and treated for any immediate medical needs while awaiting their owners to find them. Update: Fresca is on a test drive to see how she likes her new lab friend.
6/18/2009 [09-C293a] Lacey
DSH, black/brown tabby, Female spayed, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: I'm nothing special. To the world I'm just one cat. I am just one of so many homeless cats just waiting, day after day, for a new chance, a new home, and a new life. I'm so typical with all of my behaviors that I really think the dictionary definition of 'average' should show my picture. But, if I'm very lucky, someone may just pass by my cage and make a connection with me; give me a little hope; and take me home. Maybe then my very average, small life can be the whole world to you.
6/17/2009 [09-C290] Nike
DSH, black/grey tabby; declawed, Male neutered, 5 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Nike is a 5 year old declawed fellow who was originally purchased from Petland. His owners brought him in because he wasn't happy living with children. However, he loves dogs and would prefer to share his home with them.
6/17/2009 [09-C292] Sir Pouncealot
DMH, black/white, Male neutered, 8 weeks
STRAY: Condon, MT.
Sir Pouncealot and his equally adorable little sister Scarlett were found in someone's barn. They haven't spent much time around people, but we are doing our best to socialize the heck out of them.
6/17/2009 [09-C293] Scarlett O'Hairy
DMH, black/white, Female spayed, 8 weeks
STRAY: Condon, MT.
These two little fluffs are extra cute. I think it's something to do with their slight wild side. They were born in a barn and are still getting used to human contact. Scarlett is much more brave than her brother, so we think they would do great as a pair. Don't forget, all our kittens are two for the price of one!
6/11/2009 [09-C283] Sunny
DSH, torti, Female spayed, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Sometimes, the drift of our lives prevents us from keeping loved pets. That happened to Sunny, when she washed up on our shores here at the Humane Society. She's a gentle girl who has loved adults and children, had good experiences living with other cats and dogs, is a litterbox user and pretty tolerant of many living situations. Sunny likes to patrol outside during the day, but has been kept in at night. She might just be the perfect cat for you. Why not stop by and see her today.
6/11/2009 [09-C279a] Nellie
Maine Coon X, black/grey, Female, 2 Yr
STRAY: Arlee
Nellie was found near the fish hatchery in Arlee. Sounds like the right place for a homeless pet to hang out if ask me. Some folks said they had seen her around for a few months. She is very friendly and extra appreciative to have a bowl of food and a soft bed. Nellie will be available for adoption next week if she is not claimed.
6/10/2009 [09-C276] Lily
Himalayan, seal point, Female spayed, 7 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Lily's family spends too much time traveling and just didn't have time for her. She is a beautiful seal point Himalayan that has spent the last seven years indoors living the luxurious life. She gets along with children, and other cats, and even lived with a couple Newfoundlands, who were more scared of her than she was of them!
6/10/2009 [09-C279] Spirit
DSH, dilute torti with white, Female spayed, 7 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Spirit's owner could no longer care for her, but was so sad to give up such a sweet girl. She loves catnip and kitty treats and is happy to earn them with affection. She can get a bit overwhelmed with too much activity, and would prefer a quiet household. She is also a part of our Seniors for Seniors program and will make a great companion.
6/9/2009 [09-A043] Omar
Dwarf Hamster, grey, Male Intact, Adult
OWNER TURN IN: Omar is our busiest resident hamster. He loves to cruise around the shelter in his blue hamster ball, paying no mind to the other dogs and cats running around him. Omar is extra friendly and easy to handle, and would make a great pocket pet for any household.
6/9/2009 [09-C267] Ralph
Siamese X, grey/white, Male neutered, 8-10 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Sadly Ralph was brought to us after the death of his owner. He spent quite a bit of time alone since and just wants someone to confide in. Ralph loves to eat, especially his special kitty treats, and when he's finished, he's happy just napping in your lap.
6/9/2009 [09-C275] Slo-Mo
DSH, black with white, Male neutered, 3 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Slo-Mo was adopted from us in April of 2008. Although we haven't been able to get hold of his owner, it sounds like it just wasn't the right match. We know he likes to hang outside when the weather is nice and he would rather not live with dogs. However he likes other cats, and has quite a unique personality. He will stand on his back feet and do tricks for treats, and he loves to chase string, and will even make a great mouser. We think the second time will be the charm for Slo-Mo.
6/9/2009 [09-C265] Mr. Pringles
DSH, grey, Male neutered, Older Adult
STRAY: Marshall Mountain area
Mr. Pringles was found hungry and lonely up the Marshall mountain area. Oddly enough, he has a microchip, but so far it hasn't led us to his owner. He is very friendly, and quite chatty. I'm sure he is trying to tell us where he lives. If you think Mr. Pringles may be your cat, please call us @ 549-HSWM for more information. Or you can stop in to take a look, I know he would love to talk with you anyway.
6/4/2009 [09-C264] Humphrey
DSH, grey tiger, Male neutered, 3 Yr
STRAY: Blue Mountain Trailer Court
Humphrey wandered up to a kind lady right next door. He was in rough shape, due to a couple of easily treatable conditions, and seems much happier now he's on a regular diet and clean bedding. Probably from the rough time he's had, he can be a little skittish, but seems to really like people, and likes them even more when they allow him to go exploring outside. If you are looking for an inside/outside cat, Humphrey might just let you take him home.
6/2/2009 [09-C257] Boone
DMH, buff, Male neutered, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: When the new baby came, there wasn't room for Boone anymore. He's described as good with dogs, children, and seems OK with female cats, but may be too territorial if a male cat is in the household. A quiet, easygoing fellow, Boone just needs the right person to come in and offer him a new home.
6/2/2009 [09-C258] Sara May
DSH, white with brown/black, Female, 3 Yr
STRAY: Hidden Valley Road, Florence
I was hanging around waiting for my people to return for me, but when they didn't, I came to the shelter. I'm not supposed to be outside on my own, but there I was, scared and alone. Now I'm surrounded by lots of cats, but what I really want is a home with a human family. Can you be that family for me? Please?
5/26/2009 [09-C253] Sven
DMH, black, Male neutered, 3 Yr
STRAY: Hwy 10 near Missoula's airport
I thought I'd like to try to catch a flight and I thought the airport was a good place to be. Couldn't get through security. Then I wandered over to West Broadway to see if I could hook a ride off to adventure, but scooped up instead and asked to wait here at the shelter. Now I'm just waiting around till they announce my connection to a permanent home. I've settled pretty well here, but it's hardly an executive lounge, so I need a home. Till then I'll just hang around here for you. Just page "Sven" to a white courtesy phone, and I'll come running.
5/23/2009 [09-C210] Antonia
DMH, black with white, Female spayed, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: We ended up with Antonia and her kittens after she was brought in for our spay/neuter clinic and her owner decided it best they all stay with us. She was a great mom for the past couple months, but now she is ready to enjoy some time for herself. She loves to play with toys and even likes the occasional cat-mouse chase!
5/23/2009 [09-C251] O'Brien
DSH, orange tiger, Male neutered, Older Adult
OWNER TURN IN: This very handsome older fellow was found wandering alone up O'Brien creek, which seemed to be a suitable name for him too. He is very friendly and appears well taken care of so someone must be missing him. We know he is sure missing someone himself. If he sounds like your cat please call us @ 549-HSWM for more information, or stop in to see for yourself. If he is not claimed by 5/28 then he will be available for adoption.
5/21/2009 [09-C245] Lucinda
DMH, grey, Female spayed, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Lucinda's owner was not happy when her daughter brought home another cat, and then she found out Lucinda didn't really like other cats, so she brought her here. However, she does seem to like dogs. She is independent and would prefer to come and go from outside as she pleases.
5/21/2009 [09-C009] Aphrodite
DMH, grey tiger with white, Female spayed, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Update: Aphrodite is out on a test drive!
5/21/2009 [09-C249] Puzzle
DMH, torti, Female, Kitten
OWNER TURN IN: "I'm sure I left them around here somewhere." That's what Puzzle must have been thinking when she returned to the site of the box where she and her siblings were abandoned off East Mullan Road. When this baby appeared in the very same area as a box of abandoned kittens, we were pretty sure she belonged to the same litter. Puzzle was out on an adventure when her siblings were whisked to the safety of our shelter, and it was obvious that they were a family when the other kittens welcomed her back into the fold. If you've ever seen happier kittens, we'd like to know where. Update: The infamous Puzzle is off on a test drive.
5/21/2009 [09-C250] Azalea
DMH, black/white, Female spayed, 3 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Times changed, and so did my home, but I wasn't welcome by the landlord so here I am, afraid and hoping for some normalcy in a real home once more. I'm always a bit of a quiet wallflower, but I tolerate dogs and ignore other cats. People describe me as timid, but sweet. I much prefer life indoors on a couch, or a sunbeam, or your lap, even.
5/19/2009 [09-C243] Jenny
DSH, torti, Female, Kitten
ABANDONED: between Turah & Clinton
I don't remember why we were in a box, alone and frightened, under an overpass. I know we were cold and scared, but at least we had each other. The kind person who found us says we know how to use the litterbox, a major accomplishment for kittens of our tender age. Now don't you think we deserve a great home after such a shaky start to our lives? Update:Jenny is out on a trial run too.
5/17/2009 [09-C090] Buffett
DMH, grey tabby, Male neutered, Adult
OWNER TURN IN: Update: Buffett is on a test drive to make sure their resident female will welcome him.
5/15/2009 [09-C231] Sammy
Siamese X, tan with silver, Male Intact, 3 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Acquired as a stray looking for someone to care for him, Sammy lived an outdoor life until the landlord put an end to his wandering ways. Now Sammy and his buddy are both homeless, but safe in our shelter awaiting a forever home. His crystal blue eyes will endear you at first glance. Stop by for a look and you might just not be able to resist.
5/15/2009 [09-C232] Patches
DMH, white with black spots, Male neutered, 5 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Patches and his friend came in when rejected by the landlord. He looks a little rough, and is recovering from some trouble with his eyes which could be the result of too much time spent unsupervised outdoors. He does have cool green eyes and will look even better once he gets a nice brushing and a routine of good food. Patches is on the mend and will feel even better with a real home of his own. Please don't make him wait too long.
5/15/2009 [09-C235] Dipper
DSH, black/white, Female spayed, 5 yrs.
STRAY: Small Lane & Davis St, Missoula
Dipper is a smart cat. She was found playing with a cat friend, whose owners brought her to us in hopes that we could find her former home, or even a new home. She's a great looking lady, with the nicest white whiskers ever! If you're looking for a friendly, social lady, then stop by and give Dipper a look.
5/13/2009 [09-C215] Bottle Rocket
DSH, grey/black tiger, Male neutered, Kitten
OWNER TURN IN: Three litters of kittens born to feral moms all came to us at the same time. Loving foster families took them all in, socialized them and showed them the joys of living with humans. Now all are ready for a human family of their own. Bottle Rocket will provide you with a lifetime of companionship and years of entertainment as he explores his new world: your home.
5/10/2009 [09-A018] Cadbury
Holland Lop, torti, Female spayed, 4 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Cadbury is the more assertive between her and her close friend Fluffkins. She likes to nudge her way around the house. Like her budddy, she is well socialized and certainly comfortable living with adults. All that she asks is to continue living with Fluffkins, after all they have spent the last 4 1/2 years living side by side.
5/10/2009 [09-A019] Miko
Mini Rex, Himalayan (white with grey), Male neutered, 5 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Miko is a very beautiful Himalayan Mini Rex. Although very much loved, Miko and her best friend Hershey were brought in because their owner no longer had a place to keep them. She is affectionate in her own way and even makes adorable squeaky noises! Update: Miko and Hershey are on a test drive with one of our previous staff members and bunny expert.
5/10/2009 [09-A017] Fluffkins
Mini Lop, grey with white, Male neutered, 4 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Fluffkins and his good friend Cadbury have been friends for over four years and they would love to stay together. They wound up here after their owner fell on hard times and could no longer care for them. They have both been well socialized and are comfortable living with cats and even dogs. In fact Fluffkins was the boss of the kitties in his previous home!
5/10/2009 [09-A020] Hershey
Mini/Holland X, sable, Female spayed, 4 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Hershey was described as the friendliest of all her bunnies by her previous owner. She likes to sit by you on the couch, and you can even catch her playing with toys! Hershey would love to go home with Miko, they have spent their entire lives together. For more information on any of our great bunnies, call us at 549-HSWM or stop in to visit with them! Update: Hershey and Miko are off on a trial run in Butte to make sure they get along with the resident dog Daisy, also adopted from HSWM!
5/9/2009 [09-C112] Belle
DSH, black, Female spayed, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Belle is often overlooked here at the Humane Society. We have her tucked away in our isolation room, due to some special medical needs she has. Don't be alarmed though, it's nothing serious, and it certainly doesn't stop her from being one of our most affectionate kitties. She loves to snuggle, and she enjoys sunning herself on our special cat deck. If you have questions about Belle, please call us at 549-HSWM, or you cam stop in and meet her anytime during business hours, Tues.-Sat. 12-5p.m.
5/9/2009 [09-C189] Curley
DSH, white, Male neutered, 13 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Curley is a very special older fellow. He has had a pretty rough past couple of weeks. His life basically fell apart as he was moved from home to home. Curley is a nice guy who gets along with pretty much everyone. He still likes to catch the occasional mouse, but would prefer spending most of his time inside. He just wants the retirement he deserves.
5/9/2009 [09-C190] Wesley
DLH, black, Male neutered, 10 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Wesley was adopted from our old facility nine years ago. He sure never thought he would be back here, but his family had allergies and could no longer keep him. Wesley is quiet and would prefer to live a quiet sort of life. He loves food and allows himself the occasional indulgence of a kitty treat or taste of yogurt. At ten he still enjoys chasing the lazer, always fun!
5/4/2009 [09-C181] Tucker
DSH, black/brown tabby, Male neutered, 9 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: My people have to sell the house to pay the bills and they can't keep me. I love playing with string (think of the cash you'll save on toys), sitting on a window sill (means less dusting), & going outside for toilet breaks (less mess indoors). I already know how to use a cat door. Inside, I'll follow you around in hopes of gaining your affection. Even tho I don't hear very well I'll jump in your lap to get some gentle stroking. Love me a little & I'll love you back a lot.
5/2/2009 [09-C179] Urma
DSH, grey with white, Female spayed, 10 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Sadly, Urma's elderly human had to surrender this tender soul into the hands of someone better able to care for her. Urma is a typical mature cat, happy to lounge in the safety of a comfortable home, nervous during car rides and frightened of unexpected loud noises. She might prefer a quieter home and the safety of being the lone indoors-only cat in a new home.
5/2/2009 [09-C180] Tara
Maine Coon X, brown with black, Female spayed, 3 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Another victim of the poor economy, Tara was returned to our shelter when pet friendly housing couldn't be found. Tara is described as a princess who loves attention and happily coexists with other cats with similar gentle personalities. Tara gets praise for her consistent use of her litterbox, and quiet nature (vocalizing only when she has something to say). Tease her with a toy on a string and let her relax in a sunbeam and this gentle lady will truly be in cat heaven.
4/29/2009 [09-C067] Winnie
DSH, grey, Female spayed, 6 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: I'm far too elegant to spent much more time in a shelter. Although my staff is meeting my basic needs thus far and I can't complain about the quality of the cuisine, I would much prefer the comforts of a real home. I will tolerate one with cats and perhaps a dog, but I must have a soft place to lounge. I will sing for my supper and return prompt service with my attention and affection.
4/29/2009 [09-C166] Raccoon
DMH, orange tiger, Male neutered, 10 Mo
STRAY: Opportunity Resources, Russell Street
This gorgeous guy wandered into Opportunity Resources looking for some food and conversation. We named him Raccoon because not only is he quite curious, but he has a stunning, extra fluffy long tail. Not only is he good looking, but his personality is equally as charming! It took him no time at all to lure us all into his circle of new found friends! Hopefully his owners find him soon, because we are sure Raccoon won't stay here for long. He will be avialable for adoption after 5/5.
4/29/2009 [09-C164] Smokey
Russian Blue, grey, Male neutered, 7 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Smokey is a big, very handsome Russian Blue cross. He comes off sort of shy at first, but that's because before coming here he had lived a pretty quiet, peaceful life with just himself and his owner. Smokey is an indoor cat, who hasn't had much exposure to other animals. He loves to sleep with people, on their shoulder if he can fit, and he even fetches! He would love a relatively quiet new home with a window looking out at the birds.
4/29/2009 [09-C168] Whiskers
DSH, grey/white tiger, Female spayed, 3 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: When Whiskers showed up with her baby kittens, it was too much for the landlord. She and her litter are all tucked into our shelter, awaiting new homes. Whiskers raised three spunky kittens, and now, spayed and healthy herself, just waits for the right person to come by and show her how wonderful life can be. The best reward for this good mom would be a permanent home. Update: Whiskers s very excited about her fun new family.

4/23/2009 [09-C151] Biff
DMH, black/white, Male neutered, Adult
STRAY:
OK. So I had a couple of fights and have the marks to prove it. Then I lived out on my own for a while, grabbing food and shelter wherever I could. I haven't had the best of a life for a good while, so can you blame me if I'm a little sensitive. If you take the time earn my trust, maybe I can be your cat. You might just start with a little good food and a safe place to sleep. I'm up for it if you are.
4/22/2009 [09-A007] Biscotti
Domestic Rabbit, reddish brown, Female spayed, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Two rabbits with a lot to be thankful for this holiday season. Biscotti and another rabbit were found in a box abandoned next to an apartment dumpster. Thrown out like yesterdays garbage! They're both safe and healthy now, and ready for a new home. Hopefully this one will be forever; filled with love for a living creature and a little TLC. Then we'll have even more to give thanks for.
4/22/2009 [09-A016] Macy

4/21/2009 [09-C132] Whiskey Gomez
DSH, black, Male neutered, 4 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Mr. Whiskey Gomez was adopted from us a couple months ago, but he has unfortunately found himself back here after his owner had to move without him. Food, treats, toys, and catnip are apparently his favorite ways to spend time, which would explain his three pound weight gain! Whiskey is microchipped, vaccinated and ready to find a fun home, forever this time.

4/3/2009 [09-C117] Butters
DSH, orange tiger, Male neutered, 1 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Vacuums scare Butters. But he is fearless around dogs, cats, and even active children. Butters is used to the indoor life, and might just be the perfect addition to a household looking to add another feline. Just make sure you have sunny windowsills and a toy or two for him. Oh, and Butters says that he much prefers you clean with a broom because its so much less scary.
4/3/2009 [09-C114] Tillie
DSH, black, Female spayed, 3-4 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: Tillie was left behind when her family moved away. Luckily a neighbor found her and brought her in to HSWM to find a new forever home. Tillie was ok with her finder's cat and dog and seemed pretty tolerant of their seven year old as well. Basically, Tillie is a friendly, easygoing girl who would do well in just about any family!
3/27/2009 [09-C111] Maggie
DSH, torti; declawed, Female spayed, 8 yrs.
OWNER TURN IN: I didn't get along with the other girls in my house, (you know how girls can be) so now I need a new home. I'm OK with adult humans and older children, and even like dogs. I take a little time to warm up to new people, but I promise to learn your rules and do my best to be the best darn cat you'll ever have. Will you consider me? Update: Because Maggie loves dogs so much, she is in HOPE foster 'home' at Showcase Grooming on Higgins. Please visit her today!
3/14/2009 [09-C098] Kosrae
DSH, gray tiger, Male neutered, 6 Mo
OWNER TURN IN: Here's a nice boy on the brink of a whole new life. Product of a home with just too many cats, Kosrae has been an indoor cat in a home filled with other cats, dogs and people of many ages. A typical male cat, he's friendly, playful, and responsive to affection. Kosrae is at the right age to bond to a new family in a new home. Perhaps your home is the right one. Update: Kosrae is on a test drive to make sure he gets along with the family's resident cat.
3/14/2009 [09-C099] Manny
DMH, black with white, Male neutered, 3 Yr
STRAY: Bow & Central, Missoula
When found, this timid fellow looked like he needed a friend. He seems unsure of new situations and people at first, but gradually eases up when not threatened. His finder brushed him and offered him toys, much to his delight, and gave him a quiet shelter for a few days. Now he's waiting for that purrrrrfect human to find him here. We know you're out there.
3/11/2009 [09-C088] Lily
DMH, black with white, Female spayed, 9 Mo
OWNER TURN IN: Lily and her friend Bear are a delightful pair of young kittens looking for a new place to call home. Lily loves playing, napping and being a lap cat. She's friendly with everyone she meets and especially loves her friend, Bear. As always, the adoption fee for a pair of cats is the same as for a single animal!
3/11/2009 [09-C087] Bear
DMH, black, Male neutered, 9 Mo
OWNER TURN IN: Bear and his friend Lily were adopted from HSWM when they were just babies, but returned when someone in the family developed allergies. Bear is a very friendly and easygoing cat who loves everyone! Like most young cats, he enjoys playing with toys, using his scratching post and snuggling with people when he's tired. Bear and Lily will make a wonderful pair if your home allows for two cats.
3/10/2009 [09-C091] Zoe
Siamese X, lynx point, Female spayed, 2 Yr
OWNER TURN IN: Zoe is quite a cat. Beautiful eyes and markings, matched with a distinctive personality. Zoe is one of the more independent felines now in residence at our shelter, and asks for a very special new home; one that understands her likes and dislikes. We make every effort to ensure that cats offered for adoption are suitable for their prosective homes. That means assessing behaviors, testing for medical conditions, and making sure their owners are given the opportunity to take home the pet on a 'test drive'. We want to set up every pet for a successful adoption in a forever home. Zoe is willing to wait for the right one.
3/6/2009 [09-C082] Riley
DLH, orange with white, Male neutered, Adult

2/10/2009 [09-C046] Frasquita
DLH, gray, Female spayed, 4 Yr
STRAY: South 1st West, Missoula
How did this beauty get separated from her home, we wonder. While she hopes for a safe return to her home, we also know she has other options if not claimed by mid-February. While waiting for human intervention, she's well cared for by our dedicated staff. Perhaps there's a caring human out there for her.
12/18/2008 [08-C668] Izzy
DSH, black with white, Female spayed, Adult
STRAY: Blue Mountain trailer court
Izzy had been seen wandering around the area for a while. She's a shy girl but warms up quickly when you get to know her. If she is not claimed by her family, Izzy will be available for adoption on 12/24.
11/7/2008 [08-C603] Bug
Siamese X, seal point, Female spayed, Adult
STRAY: Reserve St, near Rosauers
Originally a stray found near Shopko, Bug has had quite an adventurous past couple months, finally leading her back to us. Her foster family had all kinds of useful information for us on Bug's personality. For starters, she is your typical Siamese, chatty, independent, and at times even sassy. She really enjoys having the freedom to venture outside, and she is an excellent mouser! Bug tolerates other more mellow cats, but we really think she would prefer to have the house to herself, with the exception of your company of course! UPDATE: Out on a test drive. Tune in to Furry Friday (Z100) for updates on how Bug is doing.
