8/29/2010 [A021813]
Lab X, gold, Female, Young Adult Collar: maroon leash
STRAY: by the river in Bonner
This young lady is such a carefree spirit that it was hard to get her to sit still for a picture. She's the perfect example of "girls just want to have fun"! If her old owner has decided that this isn't an option anymore, we'll just find a new owner who wants to have fun too.
8/29/2010 [A021805]
Heeler X, red/white, Male Intact, Young Adult
STRAY:
This young dog was extremely shy when he first got to the shelter, but now that he's relaxed we're discovering that he has a really sweet personality. He's not as large as the usual Heeler, so we think his mix includes a much smaller breed. We think he's a perfect size!
8/29/2010 [A021606] Scuppers
Border Collie X, black/white, Male neutered, Adult Collar: black nylon
OWNER TURN IN: This is Scuppers's second visit with us, and his family decided not to reclaim. He has the Border Collie trait of "please always keep me occupied" in spades, and he became a confinement problem when he wasn't kept busy. We think that if he has lots to do and gets plenty of attention, this sweet guy would make a very good pet.
8/29/2010 [A021596] Dancer
Shepherd X, gold, Female spayed, Adult Collar: blue nylon
OWNER TURN IN: Dancer is a lovely and very affectionate with people, and her adopters were very happy to take her home, but that was where a problem showed up. Although she looks like a real lady, Dancer is quite definitely an alpha dog, and she needs a home with no other female dogs. No other dogs? Or only boys? Dancer would fit right in!
8/26/2010 [A021743] Archie
Lab/Pit Bull X, gold/white, Male Intact, Adult
STRAY: 500 blk Minnesota, E Missoula
Archie was quite shy when he first arrived at the shelter, but once he figured out that it wasn't really a bad place, he relaxed and started asking for attention like all the other residents of the kennel!
8/26/2010 [A021728] Chip
Pitbull X, brindly/black, Male neutered, Adult
STRAY: 1800 blk Grant, Missoula
Chip has the heart of a puppy and the demeanor of a diplomat. He's a happy boy with lots of potential for integrating into an active family.
8/26/2010 [A021718] Frosty
Pit Bull X, black/white, Male neutered, Young Adult Collar: choke chain
STRAY: Southgate Mall, Missoula
No one told Frosty that dogs can't go shopping at the mall, so he was quite disappointed when he ended up at the shelter instead of strolling along and looking into the windows of his favorite stores!
8/26/2010 [A021698] Phelps
Brittany X, gold/white, Male neutered, Older Adult
STRAY: Hwy 93 N, Missoula
This older gentleman is looking for a quiet home with lots of sunshine and comfortable places to snooze. He'd also appreciate a water feature; he tries like crazy to swim in his water bowl, so no telling what he could accomplish in a bigger venue!
8/26/2010 [A021689] Puck
Lab/Pit Bull X, black/white, Male Intact, Young Adult
STRAY: 600 blk Overlook, Missoula
Puck is young and active and something of a prankster, which is why he was named for a similar Shakespearean character. He doesn't speak in iambic pentamenter, but he certainly is a lot of fun!
8/26/2010 [A021677] Mason
Retriever/Pit Bull X, red, Male neutered, Adult Collar: black/silver nylon
STRAY: 14th & Johnson, Missoula
We think Mason's glossy red coat makes quite a fashion statement, but he's more interested in having fun than being chic. He needs some training, but he wants to please and would certainly be able to learn his manners.
8/26/2010 [A021576] Bella
Lab X, black, Female, Adult
STRAY: Pruyn Vet Hospital, Missoula
We were afraid that Bella had been hit by a car because she was having trouble with one front leg, but cage rest and medication seem to have solved her physical problems. Now her only problem is that she's still with us; she wants a home again.
8/26/2010 [A021467] Simon
Lab/Pointer X, Brown with grey muzzle, Male neutered, Older Adult
STRAY: North of Lolo
This big, happy fellow came to us with some severe wounds on his neck. He obviously had an encounter with another animal that left him a little worse for wear, but he didn't let any discomfort he was feeling affect his sunny personality.
8/6/2010 [A003393] Toby
Chow/Shepherd X, brown/black, Male neutered, 3 Yr Collar: harness
OWNER TURN IN: Toby's adopters had nothing but good things to say about him -- he knows his manners, gets along with everyone, and was truly a treasured member of the family. If it hadn't been for hard times and havng to move where a big dog simply couldn't go, they never would have thought of bringing him back to the shelter. This is one great pet!
8/6/2010 [A021365] Antonio
Husky/Shepherd X, black/tan, Male neutered, Adult Collar: black leather
ABANDONED:
Antonio is a big, handsome fellow who gets along with everyone except some other male dogs. He and Dona were companions in their former life, but each one would be willing to separate in order to have a real home again. He has now been neutered, thanks to Missoula Vet Clinic.
8/2/2010 [A021429] Lady Moon
Husky X, black/tan, Female spayed, Older Adult
STRAY: 700 blk SW Higgins, Missoula
This sweet lady has very good manners; we just love that about older dogs who have "been around the block" a few times! She's gentle and mellow, and we think her one blue eye gives a very interesting touch to her pretty face.
7/25/2010 [A021394] Jake
Heeler X, sable/tan, Male neutered, Adult
STRAY: 6400 blk Mullan Rd, Missoula
This fellow has the shape and coat of a Heeler, but that facial mask has hints of Husky in it. He's a sturdy, healthy dog who has obviously not been on his own for very long, so we're hoping an owner will call us soon. He's hoping so too -- he obviously never intended to end up living in our kennel! He's now been neutered, thanks to Missoula Vet Clinic.
6/19/2010 [A021080] Blake
Australian Shepherd X, black tri, Male neutered, 6 yrs. Collar: black nylon
STRAY: 600 blk Artemos, Missoula
This guy was out and about with no owner in evidence, so we have no idea if he lives in the neighborhood or is a real traveler. We have figured out, however, that he's certainly a nice dog, and we hope to be able to either find his owner or get him into a new home. Update: Thanks to Wendy Rector for sponsoring $25.00 of Blake's adoption fee!
5/30/2010 [A020861] Calvin
Lab X, black with blue merle, Male neutered, Adult Collar: red nylon
STRAY: Hwy 93, Lolo
Calvin has his goofy side -- he loves to romp and play -- but he also knows when to display good manners. One of our favorite dog walkers says he's great on a leash, always attentive to what the person wants, never pulling or running because something else catches his attention. When she stopped to rest, he sat down beside her and gently put his head in her lap. You have to love a dog like that!
4/3/2010 [A020193] Gracie
Heeler/Greyhound X, black/brown, Female spayed, 4 Yr Collar: blue nylon
OWNER TURN IN: Gracie's owner told us what breeds were in her background, but we think some Catahoula might be involved too. She's a sweet dog who was a little too protective of her property, so we're going to find her a home where that's an asset, rather than a liability. Update: We can all use a little help from our friends occasionally, and Gracie has gotten it from Inga Talbot-Krastel, who is sponsoring $25 of her adoption fee. and Wendy Rector, who has sponsored a second $25.00. That means Gracie's total adoption fee is now just $25.00!
